LG OLED CS with more than 50 (!) Percent discount at Amazon: this 4K TV can keep up with significantly more expensive models

What do The First Avenger: Civil War and the LG OLED CS have in common? Both are a link between the “main products”. At LG, the CS is between the B2 and the C2. In the MCU, “Civil War” is not a true “Avengers” movie, but reunites many of the well-known heroes* on screen. The CS also has many of the strengths of the B2 and C2.

Thanks to a whopping 52 percent discount, the LG OLED CS with 55 inches (139 centimeters) currently costs only 999 euros at Amazon. Also Media Markt* And Saturn* have the strong 4K TV on offer for this price.

That’s why the LG OLED CS is almost as good as the C2

The LG OLED CS occupies a certain special position in the LG product range. If we were in evolutionary biology, it could serve as a link between the cheap but good B2 (999 euros with 55 inches at Media Markt* And Saturn*) and the more expensive C2 (1299 euros with 55 inches at Amazon*) are sorted. With the current discount, the CS is even on par with the actually cheaper B2.

In the test on Hifi.de, the CS received an overall rating of 9.3 in 2022. This puts it on par with the best TVs on the market. The main strength of the CS is the image quality, especially when displaying HDR content. Because the CS is equipped with the 5th generation Alpha 9 processor, which is also used in the more expensive C2. The B2 relies on the weaker Alpha 7 processor, which explains the price difference.

Thanks to its powerful processing core, the CS generates an excellent image that unfolds its full potential, especially in HDR mode. According to Hifi.de, the CS can even almost keep up with the high-end models LG OLED G2 and Sony A90J. As is typical for OLEDs, the 4K TV delivers really strong contrast and high black levels with a good anti-reflective coating. With 120 Hz and four HDMI 2.1 inputs, the CS is also suitable for lag-free gaming.

At this point the C2 is better than the CS

In terms of brightness alone, the CS can’t keep up with the G2 and the C2. The G2 (1499 euros with 55 inches at Amazon*) and the C2 have an OLED evo display, which is equipped with the so-called “Brightness Booster” (on the C2) and the “Brightness Booster Max” (on the G2) and can therefore produce even brighter images. The difference is according to Hifi.de but not huge.

A small weakness should also be mentioned: LG televisions generally do not support HDR10+ as an HDR format. But you can easily enjoy content in Dolby Vision format. That’s a plus, because Dolby Vision is much more common and is the preferred HDR format on Netflix, for example.

Samsung and Hisense as the first alternatives to the LG OLED CS

If you use Amazon Prime Video more often and want to watch movies and series in HDR10+, it’s worth buying a Samsung TV. We recently reported to you about the Samsung Neo-QLED QN90B, which is currently available on Amazon for 769 euros* is available.

If you don’t want to be spoiled for choice, a 4K TV from Hisense or Philips is another good alternative to the LG OLED CS. Because the televisions from the two manufacturers support HDR10 + and Dolby Vision. For example, the Hisense U71HQ is currently 38 percent discounted at Amazon and costs 799 euros with 65 inches.

The Hisense U71HQ does not have an OLED display, but a ULED panel that delivers 120 Hz and with two HDMI 2.1 inputs also works very well as a gaming center. In addition, the Hisense TV supports the extensive HDR formats HDR10 + Adaptive and Dolby Vision IQ, which adjust the brightness of each individual image to the lighting conditions in your living room.
