A DC star becomes Disney king in “Wish”: First trailer for the biggest Disney cinema event of the year

In 2023, another Disney animated film with “Wish” will hit theaters – and that’s a very special one. Because Disney is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Year-round celebrations are themed Disney100. But as Clark Spencer, president of Walt Disney Animation Studios, told us in an exclusive interview, the theatrical release of “Wish” on November 23, 2023 is clearly “the biggest event.” Expect “a classic Disney Christmas movie with a beautiful world and incredible music.”

Hollywood star Chris Pine, who is otherwise mainly found in action-packed blockbuster cinema instead of becoming a fairytale character, is also part of this world – for example in DC’s “Wonder Woman” films, in the action movie ” The Contractor”. and currently in the fantasy adventure Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

Now Pine becomes the Disney king for “Wish”. At the CinemaCon currently taking place in Las Vegas, not only was his role as King Magnifico revealed, but also released the character’s first photo. And then came shortly after the first teaser trailer, which you can watch above this article, which of course also features Pines Fairy Tale King.

This is Disney’s “wish”.

But what is “Wish” actually about? On the occasion of the great Disney anniversary, the Maushaus dedicates its latest animated film to a core theme of the studio: the fulfillment of wishes and dreams. For example, “Wish” is about 17-year-old Asha (voice in the original: Ariana DeBose), who lives in the kingdom of Rosas, where every wish can come true.

When Rosas is in danger and Asha makes a very special heart’s wish, a little wishing star named Star tumbles from the sky. It’s the start of an exciting adventure in which Asha is joined by her goat Valentino (Alan Tudyk) – and at the end of which the question is whether Asha can save the kingdom.

King Magnifico, voiced by Chris Pine, is the ruler of the magical kingdom of Rosas. And in the trailer, it sure looks like he has bad intentions… So after the Evil Queen, will we get an Evil King at Disney? Incidentally, Pine has played a royal role for Disney before – but not yet king. Chris Pine starred as Cinderella’s Prince Charming in Rob Marshall’s musical film Into The Woods.
