“A Colt for all cases” film from the “John Wick” maker: Different than expected and even “Star Wars” plays a role

In the hit 1980s series “Just in Case,” Hollywood stuntman Colt Seavers (Lee Majors) hires himself as a part-time bounty hunter who captures fugitives on behalf of a bail bondsman – or even helps if they turn out to be. the alleged criminals are innocent. In the cinema adaptation “The Fall Guy” it looks completely different, according to a first trailer presented at the CinemaCon cinema fair.

Colt Seavers, now played by Ryan Gosling, is a former stuntman who left the profession after a serious accident and now makes ends meet doing odd jobs. But the bounty hunter is not there, the film adaptation has abandoned this aspect. But then Seavers’ ex-girlfriend (played by Emily Blunt) needs his help: the director makes an epic movie that should be a cross between “Star Wars” and “Mad Max” – starring Hollywood’s hottest star (Aaron Taylor). Johnson) in the lead role.

Because Seavers looks so much like the star, his ex-girlfriend asks him to go back to his old job and take on the role of a stunt double. Hoping to be reunited with the love of his life, he agrees. But then things take a turn when the main character disappears without a trace. With the entire project drawing to a close, Seavers makes it his mission to find him and must fight his way through the Los Angeles underworld…

Giant stunts – much bigger than in the series

In terms of content, ‘The Fall Guy’ differs considerably from the series and will be very different from what many of the cinema adaptation initially thought, but in the foreground should be a well-known element from the template: stunts!

And, of course, with today’s capabilities and a movie’s budget, these will be much, much bigger than in the series. Reports on the first trailer showing also praise the show values on display. Above all, “The Fall Guy” here takes advantage of the two worlds that the action comedy shows: of course, there are completely different stunts in the movie-within-the-movie in space than in what happens in Hollywood.

During the presentation, director David Leitch also pointed out that the “Just in Case” series had an incredible influence on him. She instilled in him the desire to be a stuntman – which he was for many years before celebrating his directorial debut with colleague Chad Stahelski with “John Wick”. Since then he has directed numerous other action movies with “Atomic Blonde”, “Deadpool 2”, “Hobbs & Shaw” and most recently “Bullet Train”.

The autumn manis scheduled to hit German cinemas on February 29, 2024. So we will have to wait a while before a trailer is released to the general public. In addition to the trio of leads, Winston Duke (“Black Panther”), “Ted Lasso” star Hannah Waddingham and “Everything Everywhere All At Once” shooting star Stephanie Hsu are also featured.
