New York’s Metropolitan Museum will posthumously commemorate fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019, next year. As the famous Central Park Museum in Manhattan has announced, some 150 works by the Hamburg-born designer will be on display in the spring in the “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” exhibition.
“Karl Lagerfeld was one of the most attractive, productive and recognizable forces in fashion and culture, known both for his extraordinary designs, his tireless creative work and his legendary personality,” said Max Hollein, Austrian director of the Metropolitan Museum.

The exhibition will open on May 1 with the so-called “Met Ball”. Often referred to as the “Party of the Year,” the gala is an annual star-studded fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute.
