With the LG OLED C3, one of the first 4K TVs of the year is already in the major stores. Now Samsung is following suit and is launching its line-up for 2023. But that’s not all, because the Koreans not only give you cashback with your purchase, but also a free soundbar, similar to the Neo QLED QN91B.
You can recognize the new 4K TVs from Samsung by the letter ‘C’ at the end of the product name. The new QD OLED flagship is called S90C and S95C. The S90C is currently 55 inches (138 centimeters) and 65 inches (163 centimeters) at Amazon and Media Markt* to have. The smaller version costs 2499 euros, plus you get 200 euros cashback and a soundbar for free.
With the S90C, Samsung gives you an HW-S811B/ZG soundbar, which costs 389 euros for a single purchase at MediaMarkt. So you save a total of 589 euros, which reduces the price of the S90C by 55 inches to 1910 euros. In the variant of S90C with 65 inches for 3299 euros* you get the same soundbar and no less than 400 euros cashback, which amounts to an effective purchase price of 2510 euros. You can find out how to secure cashback and a soundbar here.
Samsung S90C and S95C: even better than their predecessors?
With the S90C, Samsung once again relies on the proven QD-OLED technology. Tested by Hifi.de Last year it became clear that QD OLED panels offer higher brightness, greater viewing angle stability and an even better anti-reflective coating than conventional OLED panels. Samsung has again improved the quality here. But the LG OLED G3 is now on par with the QD OLED TVs in terms of image quality.
Hifi.de When testing the S90C, he was particularly impressed by the maintain brightness, even with longer scenes in the dark. Many televisions have problems illuminating bright areas for extended periods in such situations. In this respect, the S90C is not only ahead of the competition, but also ahead of its predecessor, the S90B.
Furthermore, the S90C offers all the features you would expect from a high-end television. 120 Hz and four HDMI 2.1 inputs coupled with gaming technologies such as VRR and ALLM provide responsive gaming. As usual, you have to do without Dolby Vision support with Samsung televisions.
The Samsung S95C offers this added value
The Samsung S95C offers a better integrated sound system compared to the S90C: The S90C reaches 60 watts with a 2.2.2 channel setup, the S95C at 70 watts with 4.2.2 channels. In addition, the S95C is supplied with a one-connect box, with which the connections are outsourced. You simply place the box near the TV. From there, only a thin cable leads to the television, which allows for flatter wall mounting.
The S95C obviously costs more than the S90C. The 65-inch variant is included 4099 euros*. There is also 400 euros cashback and the aforementioned soundbar. You pay for 55 inches 2899 euros at Saturn* plus 200 euros cashback and the soundbar. The top model is also available in the 77 inch (195 centimeter) version 6399 euros* available. Then you get 600 euros cashback and the well-known soundbar.
Or rather a Samsung QD OLED TV from 2022?
But are the new Samsung TVs worth it? The first and most important reason to buy a 4K TV from 2022 is the significantly lower price. The Samsung S95B is currently priced as last year’s best 55-inch QD OLED model 1249 euros at MediaMarkt*. The 65-inch variant is included 1799 euros*but you also get a voucher of 200 euros from MediaMarkt.
If you always want to have the latest of the latest, it is probably worth buying a brand new Samsung TV. However, the predecessor models S90B and S95B also achieved good marks in many tests and also offer an excellent picture. As mentioned earlier, the brightness, viewing angle stability and anti-glare coating are not up to the level of the 2023 models.
