‘The Mandalorian’: Is there a scene after the credits? The season 3 finale throws a surprise

If you’re wondering if you should wait for a post-credits scene in The Mandalorian for Episode 8 of Season 3, or skip the credits and head straight to Google for explanations and theories for the finale, here’s what we can tell you: There’s no bonus scene after the credits, you didn’t miss anything either. And quite a few did in the FILMSTARTS college surprised (the author of these lines replayed the credits just to be sure, she was so sure of another scene beforehand…).

Because: After the “The Book of Boba Fett” offshoot was announced in the season 2 credits, even with a start date, many fans assumed a post-credits scene again this time. And while season 1 didn’t have one, right before the credits rolled in, Moff Gideon’s (Giancarlo Esposito) reveal of the darksaber teased a very obvious setback. Not so in Season 3: Here we get a very smooth, very peaceful ending for Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his son Din Grogu – it could almost serve as the conclusion of the whole story.

What We Expected: Season 4 teaser or Thrawn’s return

So should fans be concerned about Season 4 of The Mandalorian because it wasn’t alluded to at the end of Season 3? Probably not, showrunner Jon Favreau has already confirmed that the script for season 4 is written. It is believed that filming could begin in the fall of 2023. Strictly speaking, one must say: Season 4 has not been officially announced yet…

Should season 4 of The Mandalorian come, which we’re currently assuming, there’s another big but for fans of Din Djarin: It’s not certain that Din Djarin and Grogu will be the focus of the next season – they could just pop in whenever one of their New Republic assignments allows and become supporting characters.

Season 3 was not only about Din Djarin, but also about Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff). “The Mandalorian” in the series title doesn’t have to refer to Din Djarin alone. A similar mix of different storylines could then also appear in season 4. Or Din Djarin and Din Grogu actually come back into the picture and experience more episodic adventures again, as was the case in the first two seasons.

Anyway, at least we can I can’t imagine the two super popular characters retiring after their much-deserved happy ending at the end of Season 3 – but for now, this is being left open and the missing scene after the credits (intentionally?) doesn’t focus on what’s to come, but gives the father-son duo a moment of peace.

After all, Thrawn doesn’t return until “Ahsoka”.

Instead of a reference to Season 4 of The Mandalorian, we would have done that anyway expected something different: A reference to one of the upcoming Mandoverse series. That could have been the announcement of a new spin-off, perhaps again as a breakout chapter between The Mandalorian season 3 and season 4, as was the case with The Book Of Boba Fett. Something like “The Book Of Bo-Katan” maybe – although “The Mandalorian” season 4 could just become Bo-Katan’s story, see above in the text that not only Din Djarin has to be THE Mandalorian.

Or there could have been a teaser for the upcoming series Skeleton Crew starring Jude Law – or, even more likely, a preview of the series that will launch in August 2023″Star Wars: Ahsoka“.

A teaser, perhaps a rear view, of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) would have been appropriate here – although that’s exactly what was seen in the first “Ahsoka” trailer. Why the author of this article almost gambled on a Thrawn teaser at the end of the finale is the title of episode 8: “The Return”. Finally, in Episode 7, it got blatant and repeated about the imminent spoken by Thrawn – so all the alarm bells went off on me when the title faded.

But that just goes to show that it’s all well and good (and fun!) to forge theories, but such assumptions don’t have to come true in the end.

“The Return”, then, is probably more related to the Mandalorians’ final return to their home planet of Mandalore. There, The Armorer (Emily Swallow) and Bo-Katan ceremonially light the Great Forge – resettlement may begin, perhaps in season 4…?

The movie “The Mandalorian”.

By the way, there will even be a movie “The Mandalorian” in the future. A feature film adventure as the climax of the so-called was announced as one of three “Star Wars” movies at this year’s Star Wars Celebration. Dave Filoni, who co-creates the Mandalorian narrative universe with Jon Favreau, will direct. You can find out all about the three new movies, including “Star Wars 10” starring Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley) here:
