Hemophilia: Warning signs!

According to the registry of the World Federation of Hemophilia, there are about 318 people with hemophilia living in Panama.

Between 70% and 80% of patient bleeding in hemophilia, they occur inside the joints or in the muscles.

Experts insist in this year 2023 on focusing on optimizing access to treatment and care with an emphasis on better control and prevention of bleeding.

This means the implementation of thome treatment, as well as prophylactic treatment so that the patient has a better quality of life.

Current treatments are very effective and it is believed that, with proper therapy and care, people with hemophilia can lead perfectly healthy lives.

Prophylactic treatment should start from the first years of life, says the doctor Carlos Cano, head of rare diseases at Pfizer for Central America and the Caribbean (CAC).

“The success of prophylactic use will depend on adherencetreatment, to prevent bleeding and keep levels of absent coagulation factor above target,” he explains.
