Against all odds, Til Schweiger (“The Polar Bear”) refuses to continue making films. Because it’s not just the critics who haven’t reacted particularly positively to films like “The Wedding” and co in recent years, but lately it hasn’t really succeeded in luring the masses to the cinemas. Yes, the times of “Kokowääh” and “Honig im Kopf” were clearly a thing of the past.
With “Manta Manta 2” Til Schweiger proved that he can still deliver a hit. The success of the sequel to the cult film from the nineties is of course also based on the nostalgic desires of the viewers. Still, Til Schweiger can be happy that people flock to the cinemas to see Bertie, Uschi (Tina Ruland) and Co. to see it in action again.
Til Schweiger shoots again with the star “Manta Manta 2”.
While the tragic comedy “The best is yet to come” will hit theaters on December 7, 2023, in which Til Schweiger not only directed but also took on one of the main roles (more information about the project can be found HERE), Schweiger is currently working on his next project: This is the film adaptation of the bestseller “The cafe at the edge of the worldby John Strelekky.
And as befits a real author like Til Schweiger, in this case he will not only take on the director’s post, but also be seen on camera. The cast also includes a familiar face from Manta Manta 2: Tim Olivier Schultz. There he embodied Schweigerfilm’s film son Daniel. It is not yet known how big his role in “The Cafe on the Edge of the World” will be.
But one can assume that Tim Oliver Schultz will be seen in the lead role of advertising manager John. He is constantly under stress and no longer has time to enjoy life. Mike’s (Til Schweiger) cafe becomes a turning point in the workaholic’s life. He really just wanted to pause here, but then he discovered three questions on the menu: Why are you here? Are you afraid of death? Are you living a full life? John then embarks on a journey of self-discovery that takes him all the way to Hawaii…
It is still unclear when “The Café at the End of the World” will appear. The film will be shot in Berlin, Munich and the Uckermark. The cities that immediately remind you of the paradise beaches of Hawaii…
