The series “Dance of the Devil” has enjoyed great popularity among horror movie lovers for several decades. If there’s one thing you can say about Sam Raimi’s trilogy, it’s that it’s an absolute cult. To this day, Bruce Campbell’s practical effects, utterly strange ideas and unleashed aura inspire generation after generation. It’s no wonder the franchise has continued to expand with Fede Alvarez’s “Evil Dead” and “Evil Dead Rise” reboots.
The highlights of the franchise are undoubtedly “Tanz der Teufel” and “Tanz der Teufel II”. In fact, many fans believe that the second part even surpasses the original, because here, among the bloody demon battles, the crazy Sam Raimi Gaga humor is mixed with blatant vehemence. This also leads to Ash (Campbell) replacing his arm with the chainsaw. But there’s one detail that even the followers of Part 2 may have overlooked…
You know the Blade Gauntlet!
In “Tanz der Teufel 2” there are two scenes in which the infamous glove with knives from “Nightmare – murderous dreams” has been used. Horror fans know it: serial killer Freddy Krueger wears the gauntlet inside and hunts his young victims with it. The fact that the prop also made it into “Tanz der Teufel 2” is a nice Easter egg for all horror fans.
For the first time, we can see the knife glove in the background as Ash chainsaws his girlfriend’s head:

The bladed glove is shown a second time as Ash and Annie (Sarah Berry) search the basement for the missing pages from the Book of Dead:

Incidentally, there is a simple reason why Sam Raimi ultimately chose this allusion. Not only because the knife gloves are absolutely iconic and fans should be dreaming of a possible crossover. In “Nightmare”, there is a scene where “Dance the Devil” can be seen playing on a TV. And so, in a sense, Raimi took revenge.
