The streaming service HBO Max has announced a new spin-off of the hit series “Game of Thrones”. The show is set chronologically before ‘Game of Thrones’ and thus at a time when the Targaryen line still sits on the Iron Throne, according to an Instagram post: ‘A century before ‘Game of Thrones’ there was Ser Duncan, the great, and his squire Egg».
According to HBO Max, not only has a pilot episode been ordered, but an entire season. “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” is being produced by fantasy author George RR Martin (74), among others. He wrote the books “A Song of Ice and Fire” on which “Game of Thrones” is based. His “Tales of Dunk and Egg” novel series should also serve as a template for the new spin-off installments.
With “House of the Dragon” there is already a series about the prehistory of “Game of Thrones”. A second season is currently in the works. The series focuses on House Targaryen, the ancestors of Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), who have multiple fire-breathing dragons and therefore rule. (sda/dpa)
