Time and again Jennifer Lopez (“Hustlers”) is wrongly reduced to romantic comedies, although she regularly practices this profession with “Plan B for love”, “Marry Me” or most recently “Wedding Planner”. But the fact is that Lopez has always had a soft spot for genre cinema. The also very successful musician proved this at the beginning of her career with “Anaconda”, “U-Turn” and “Out Of Sight”.
Jennifer Lopez pulls the strings differently in The Mother, where the superstar flexes her brawn (and other weapons). The Netflix-Actioner will be available on the red N streaming service from May 12.
This is “the mother”
The story revolves around a highly effective assassin and assassin (Lopez) who has been hiding in a dense forest area for years. But now she is forced to come out of hiding to protect her daughter (Lucy Paez). Years ago, the mother-daughter relationship came to an abrupt end when the assassin had to flee from dangerous men. Now, however, the time has come for all accounts to be finally settled.
The action thriller was helmed by Niki Caro, who previously directed “The Zoo Director’s Wife” or the Disney blockbuster “Mulan”. Misha Green (Lovecraft Country) wrote the original screenplay for The Mother. This was subsequently revised again by “Blood Father” author Peter Craig. In addition to Jennifer Lopez and Lucy Paez, the cast also includes Joseph Fiennes (“Killing Me Softly”), Gael Garcia Bernal (“Amores Perros”) and Paul Raci (“Sound Of Metal”).
