The Netflix series “Sex/Life”, which launched in 2021, was not particularly well received by critics – but by the audience in front of the television sets. So it didn’t take long for season 2 to be confirmed and quickly became a topic of conversation on social media again. Because “Sex/Life” has one thing above all to offer: lots of bare skin! That’s enough of that.
Shortly after the second season of “Sex/Life” premiered on Netflix, showrunner Stacy Rukeyser assured in an interview The Hollywood Reporters, that the series is definitely not finished yet: “I know there are always more stories to tell about the characters in the ‘Sex/Life’ universe and I hope I get the chance to do that”. But Rukeyser certainly won’t get this chance. Netflix has announced that Sex/Life will be discontinued after season 2. Reasons for this were not given.
This is “Sex/Life”
Based on BB Easton’s novel of the same name, Sex/Life became a Netflix series in 2021. The first eight episodes quickly became a hit and viewers followed each episode closely on social media. Is Adam Demos’ penis (who was filmed frontally nude, which is still a real exception in the US!) real or just a prosthesis? How did the makers get the sex scenes so authentic (answer: with an intimacy coordinator)? And so on, and so on… But what is the story actually about?
Billie Connelly (Sarah Shahi) is a tired mother living a quiet small-town life with her lovely husband Cooper (Mike Vogel). She keeps thinking about the time before she became a wife and mother. She used to live in New York, party every night with her best friend Sasha (Margaret Odette) and regularly wake up in strange beds. Most of all, Billie misses the great sex with Brad (Adam Demos). In order to better remember the time and nights, she begins to write down her experiences in a diary. When Cooper finds the notes, he’s pretty confused.
How things will go on with Billie, Cooper and Brad we will never know. But Netflix definitely has the next raunchy series in the works…
