Netflix announces new series “Stranger Things” – but very different than you think!

After “Stranger Things” comes before “Stranger Things” – yes, it really will be. After the fifth season, which we expect early 2024 at the earliest, the series is complete. But we probably won’t have to do without the beloved town of Hawkins and the mysterious characters who live there in the future!

Netflix has announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Matt and Ross Duffer are producing an animated series set in the Stranger Things universe. Eric Robles came up with the idea and the Duffer brothers are already excited: “The scripts and artwork are amazing, we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues”.

Exactly how the adventure will continue and whether characters from the original series (and possibly original voices as well) will appear in the new production has not yet been announced. One thing is certain, the new series will be in the vein of the 80s cartoons that aired on TV every Saturday morning. Examples include “Masters Of The Universe”, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, and “GI Joe”.

It is not yet known when the ‘Stranger Things’ cartoons will be available on Netflix. With the cartoons airing after the end of the series, it’ll be a while before we see an animated Hawkins…

“Strange things” as far as the eye can see

So we can not only expect the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things”, but also a cartoon series that will take place in the “Stranger Things” universe. But that is not everything. As previously reported, there will also be a Stranger Things play! The production will be called “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” and will be staged in London’s West End in the Phoenix.
