Well-being: Types of self-care

The ability of individuals, families and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health and cope with illness and disability, with or without support from health care providers, is known as self-care, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Self-care provides a person with a physical and psychological stability emotional and social in their daily lives. It allows you to find harmony with yourself by satisfying your physical and psychological needs, says psychologist Maybell Del C. Aizpurúa.

This means finding your own space and being able to offer something better than yourself our environment, whether it is about work and society, among other things.

But what are the types of self-care? The psychologist presents some of them:

– Emotional: based on taking care of emotions, recognize them and don’t avoid them. For example, they should take time to think and identify what is really not working. I can meditate and let myself cry.

– Physical: It consists of taking care of the physical through actions that benefits the body. It is vital to eat nutritious food, go to bed early or go for a simple walk.

– Social: Consists of relationships that someone has with him yourself and others. For example, making an appointment to go out to dinner with a friend.

One of the many benefits of self-care is that it improves productivity, giving you time for the things that really matter, says the WHO.

It is also improving self esteem, because a positive message is sent to the subconscious.

A mistake that is often made is that when you listen the word self carethey immediately associate it with spending money, but that is not the case, experts point out.

It refers to stopping and appreciating your needs and do something that will benefit everyone.
