This series is eagerly awaited and on Friday, as part of the ongoing Star Wars Celebration in London, some fans were able to view the first moving images of the upcoming “Star Wars” series “Skeleton Crew” – including FILMSTARTS editor Annemarie Havran .
The first trailer for “Skeleton Crew”, which has so far only been shown exclusively to Star Wars Celebration attendees, introduces the series’ new young heroes: Ravi Cabot Conyers, Kyriana crater And Robert Timothy Smith will be together with Jude law (“Sherlock Holmes”) go on an adventure in distant galaxies. In the first trailer, Law appears as a mentor who somehow tries to get his teenage companions back to their parents.
In addition, the first trailer also tells us an exciting detail about Jude Law’s character, as it seems that he will play a Jedi. The first moving images show Law using the Force to break out of prison (however, the trailer doesn’t reveal how he ended up in this situation in the first place).

True franchise fans will find more references in the trailer. So we get to see a Tick. This headstrong furry creature looks like a cross between a rodent and a rabbit and lives in the woods of Endor. This agile species made its debut in the TV movie Ewoks: Battle for Endor. In addition to Teek, Vane (Marti Matulis) also appears in the trailer. The chaos-loving Nikto-Pirat fans should know about the third season of “The Mandalorian”.
“Star Wars” meets Spielberg
Nikto pirates, fantastic creatures, space adventures: all these elements in the first trailer have an almost Spielbergesque quality and evoke memories of movies like “ET”, “The Goonies” or “Hook”.
Incidentally, the team of committed directors also gives hope for a real creative fireworks display. At the Star Wars Celebration, it was announced that alongside experimental expert and “The Green Knight” director David Lowery, Oscar-winning duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (“Everything Everywhere All At Once”) could be featured for at least one episode. Rounding out the directing team are Jake Schreier (“Beef”), Bryce Dallas Howard and Lee Isaac Chung, who also directed episodes of “The Mandalorian.”
A specific release date for “Skeleton Crew” has not yet been announced. The series is currently in post-production and is scheduled to release on Disney+ in 2023.
