An important music event is taking place April 11-15: Zermatt Unplugged. The acoustic music festival has been an integral part of the Swiss festival program since it was first held in 2007.

Run 5 Ostschweiz – the coolest running event in Switzerland

Probably the coolest running event in Switzerland, it takes participants in Eastern Switzerland along unconventional running routes. The run plan has a total of five dates along five different routes.

On one side is the run through the Halls of Being, the Walter Zoo Gossau or the Mogelsberg woodland path. Or, more unusual, FC St. Gallen stadium and Ikea Shopping Arena St. Gallen runs.

Going through the centre, passing through the spectator rows and directly through the VIP lounge, having to overcome sofas, beds, tables and escalators during shopping, FC St. You get a unique insight into the Gallen world.

Bern Grand Prix – runs through the federal city

If you like a little more classics, you should “stand up” at the Bern Grand Prix on May 13, 2023. Often referred to as the ten most beautiful mile in the world, the city run is indeed one of the most attractive runs in Switzerland with its varied route. This is also evidenced by the annual attendance of up to 30,000 athletes!

The route runs through Bern’s old town along the Dählholzliwald along the Aare and truly challenges runners with the final sharp climb in Aargauerstalden. A good alternative is the 4.72 kilometer Old Town GP, which, as the name suggests, includes a tour through the old city of Bern. The deadline for registration is 1 May 2023 and the participation fee for the big run is 60 francs, including t-shirt and medal.

Grass and wild herb markets – the new green for the balcony

Spring is also the time to sow seeds in a pot in your own garden or on the balcony. A dream for all hobby gardeners is the Entlebuch herb and wild herb market, which will take place for the tenth time this year on 20 May in Escholzmatt.

A wide variety of young plants are presented here, from herbs, wild herbs, shrubs, vegetables to wild geraniums. These include old varieties, new species, and many lesser-known native plants. Anyone wishing to pre-immerse themselves in the world of Swiss wild plants will have the opportunity to do so at the Bären Wild Herbs Walk on 26 April at the Bundesplatz in Bern from 7 am to 5 pm.

Daffodil walk in Les Paccots

The small resort town of Les Paccots is located in the Friborg Pre-Alps and is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the holiday for the whole family, both in summer and winter.

Every May, a particularly beautiful natural spectacle takes place at Les Paccots: fields of blooming daffodils. Meadows with hundreds of thousands of flowers turn into white carpets, so the phenomenon of flowering daffodils is also known as “snow in May.”

Important: You should not leave the marked hiking trails while hiking in the fields, as the daffodil population is constantly decreasing due to urban sprawl and vulnerability. In addition to the individual walks, the village invites you to join one of the two guided walks on May 20, 2023 to learn more about the secrets of the daffodil.

Cully Jazz Festival – let’s shake the spring

Cully is a small village in the canton of Vaud and is well worth a visit all year round thanks to its beautiful location. The municipal area stretches from the shore of Lake Geneva to the steep slopes of Lavaux and ends at Mont de Gourze at 925 meters above sea level.

Cully becomes the venue for the Cully Jazz Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors annually. The marquee with the main stage is just above the lake. There are also numerous other concerts in the cellar bars and streets of Bağcı village, some of which can be accessed free of charge. This year the festival will take place in Cully from Friday, April 14 to Saturday, April 22. All program and advance ticket sales are available online.

Zermatt Unplugged – Rolling under the Matterhorn

Another important music event will take place from 11-15 April 2023: Zermatt Unplugged. The acoustic music festival has been an integral part of the Swiss festival program since it was first held in 2007, and for once the Matterhorn is not the focal point of the mountain village of Valais.

Setting out with the philosophy of staging the concerts of great artists without unplugging, the festival creates unique musical moments that give you goosebumps. The staff is always full of great national and international artists who take Zermatt Unplugged far beyond the borders of Switzerland.

This year, musicians like Of Monsters and Men, Calum Scott and Passenger will wow visitors, and tickets are still available for these concerts.

Gluscht Zug – something new for your taste

From 11 to 14 May 2023, the walking path around Landsgemeindeplatz in Zug will be transformed into a foodie paradise. More than 100 specialties from around the world can be tasted at more than 40 stands. Concept: In addition to normal portions, tasting bowls are also sold so that different dishes can be tested at each booth. Also, each dish is only served once to ensure great variety.

There is a large children’s area around the tasting, as well as various musical performances, so Gluscht is an attractive activity for families as well. Friday is also dedicated to the ancient art of brewing. From 16:00 a variety of beers are served along the tree-lined avenue on the lake Zug promenade – even half price for the first thirty minutes.
