The first edition of the creative production workshop for film projects from Central America and the Caribbean culminated in the country with six award-winning projects and the announcement of a second edition involving Colombia and Venezuela.
12 projects in three weeks Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Mexico participated in a comprehensive feature film development program focused on creative production with the goal of promoting new talent in the regional audiovisual industry by providing the tools to perform their debut feature film.
The workshops were led by experts from cinema and audiovisual media who shared three modules from their experience on script, direction, production and directing.
Invited experts were Lucía Carreras (Mexico), Gustavo Rondón (Venezuela), Cristina Gallego (Colombia), Julio Hernández Cordón (Guatemala / Mexico), Rubén Mendoza (Colombia), Isabella Gálvez (Panama), Consuelo Castillo (Colombia), Gabriela Sandoval (Chile), Jairo Ramos (Panama) and María Neyla Santamaría (Colombia ) ) ).
The participants had the opportunity to present the progress of his film proposals through a bias to a selected jury that chose the most outstanding projects that were rewarded with prizes and incentives for the realization of their project.
It should be noted that once workshop all those selected are ready to seek funding for their films.
Six Projects the winners were: “Muere la Paz” from Costa Rica; “Libertinas” from El Salvador, “La Cordillera” and “Round” 10 from Panama; “The Fifteenth Station” Dominican Republic and “The Summit of Alaska” from Guatemala.
The prizes are awarded in a value greater than USD 10,000 and include cash, lighting equipment rental and cameras for shooting teasers of his films, except
direct invitation to the Santiago Lab of the Santiago International Film Festival and to the Cali Producers’ Hall of FICCALI.
