“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate”, a new film from the saga of the most famous archaeologist in the history of cinema, will be premiered at the next Cannes Film Festival, which will have its world premiere on May 18.
Harrison Ford, who is returning to the role that made him famous on a global scale, will be at the premiere and will receive “extraordinary recognition” from the festival for his entire career, the organization announced today in a statement.
Film directed James Mangoldwill arrive fifteen years after the presentation, also in Cannes, of the previous part, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull(“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”).
The film will begin showing in cinemas on the 28th. June in France and two days later in NOW.
The new installment will have a refund John Rhys Davies in the role of Sallah, as part of a cast that will include figures such as Antonio Banderas, Mads Mikkelsen or Toby Jones.
The film will compete in the official competition Cannes Film Festivalwhich will be held from May 16 to 27.
On opening day, Ford, Mangold, Banderas, Mikkelsen and other cast members will climb the steps of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes to the chords of the iconic sound track composed by John Williams for the first part, “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (“In search of the lost ark”, 1981).
“In 1995, I had the honor of coming to Cannes to present my first film, ‘Heavy’, at the Directors’ Fortnight. 28 years later, I am proud to return with movie something more spectacular,” Mangold said in a statement.
The director’s filmography includes titles with various themes such as “Girl, Interrupted” (“Interrupted Innocence”, 1999), “Kate & Leopold” (2001), “Walk the Line” (“On a tightrope”, 2005) , “3:10 to Yuma (“The 3:10 Train”, 2007), “The Wolverine” (“Immortal Wolverine”, 2013) or “Ford v Ferrari” (“Le Mans ’66”), 2019 ).
