Is the next “paranormal activity” coming up? Blumhouse plans horror franchise based on real events

The Blumhouse horror film studio is known for making effective scary movies with relatively little funding that are really well received by audiences. A good example of this approach is the found footage shocker “Paranormal Activity”, released in 2007, which managed to raise more than $193 million (!!) worldwide with a small budget of only US$15,000 (!) Absolute madness.

And it looks like the next Paranormal Activity could be just around the corner, as the studio has secured the rights to the life story of the Moffitt family, who have been terrorized for over six years by a sinister presence calling them “Mr. . Entity”.

The company also secured the rights to the book manuscript ‘Mr. Entity: The Moffitt Family Haunting, in which Jessica Moffitt, the daughter of the family, gives her own perspective on what happened at the time – supplementing those stories with experiences from the rest of the family.

At Blumhouse, one already seems to know about the success of all productions about the events surrounding the Moffitt family and their terror spirit “Mr. Entity” to be convinced because loud the studio is planning an entire franchise around Mr. Entity”. The aim is to produce a film and series that takes up the Moffitts’ strange case and further expands the story.

The grisly experiences of the Moffitt family remained unknown for a long time. It wasn’t until 2022 that public reports first emerged about the alleged paranormal events that the family suffered from in the late 1980s to early 1990s. The family, who shared an eerie presence in their Southern California home, has long kept the supernatural phenomena a secret. Only a few experts in paranormal phenomena allowed them to join this ghost tour, including Ed and Lorraine Warren, who should be well known to genre fans by now through the “Conjuring” series.
