When it comes to suggesting that a character from “John Wick 4” was inspired by Heath Ledger’s Joker from “The Dark Knight”, after some thought most people would probably still bet on the Marquis played by “IT” Pennywise Bill Skarsgård – but you’re wrong about that. It’s the nameless tracker (who wants to watch the world burn?). At least that’s what the actors said Shamie Anderson.
In an interview with the magazine he explains that absolutely nothing about his character will be revealed in the film. But he thought it through, discussed the tracker a lot with director Chad Stahelski, and finally looked for a role model in movie history:
“I watched the Joker and did some studying Heather Ledger did with it and how exciting that character was.

He mainly draws a parallel: Little is learned about the background of both figures, but the optics point to prehistory. With the Joker it’s the scars, with the Tracker it’s his backpack and his clothes. This tells the audience that it is a character who travels a lot and never changes clothes.
He also seems to have adopted a role model from Ledger’s acting approach. As is known, the actor, who passed away in 2008, never really gave up the role during filming, which Anderson says he did. He took the tracker’s notebook home and wrote a lot in it. There were personal things in the backpack. He had dog toys and snacks with him. He believes this is why so many people are excited about the tracker.
A tracker spin-off – starring a Hollywood legend?
Anderson hopes we see the tracker again. On the one hand, he’s interested in finding out if his character has a connection to Halle Berry’s Sofia from “John Wick 3.” Both let dogs fight at their side in the same way. The characters are therefore connected in his head. Interesting side note: Anderson got the part because John Wick 4 director Chad Stahelski saw him in Halle Berry’s Bruised.
But for a possible “The Tracker” spin-off, he names other contestants. Upon recommendation of -Reporter, mentioning that Liam Neeson attended the shooting of John Wick 4 and would still be a formidable villain, explains:
“Wow, that would be epic. Liam Neeson would be a great opponent. I also think Denzel Washington would be a crazy opponent. But it would be especially interesting to see a female opponent. Meryl Streep would be something completely different . So these are my top three picks: Denzel Washington, Liam Neeson, and Meryl Streep.
Whether there will be a “The Tracker” spin-off is as much in the stars as whether “John Wick 5” will ever follow. After all, those in charge of the franchise recently revealed that, in addition to the already announced and filmed “Ballerina” and “The Continental”, another spin-off has already been decided. However, we bet on another character:
