
When Martin Scorsese has a new movie in the pipeline, movie buffs agree it can only be a masterpiece. After Scorsese put an end to gangster cinema with the nearly four-hour Netflix epic “The Irishman”, in which he had played a major role for decades, it was soon announced that the master director would take on “Killers Of”. The Flower Moon” is next.
But after Hollywood got cold feet, Apple acquired the rights to the adaptation of David Grann’s novel of the same name – and wanted to hit theaters as early as November 2022. However, when this deadline was not met, things became suspiciously quiet around the long-awaited project – until now. Because now we know that “Killers Of The Flower Moon” will be in German cinemas on October 19th. After the exclusive theatrical release, the film will appear on Apple TV+.
You probably need some stamina again
Based on a true story, “Killers Of The Flower Moon” follows a series of murders of a native tribe in the US state of Oklahoma in the 1920s. At the heart of the story is unscrupulous farmer William Hale (Robert De Niro), who will do anything to seize the resources of his native neighbors and expand his wealth even further.
Hale’s cousin, Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio), is married to Osage member Mollie (Lily Gladstone), who owns much of her people’s wealth. When several members of their tribe are brutally murdered, FBI Agent Tom White (Jesse Plemons) takes on the case and sets out to solve the grisly crimes.
While Killers Of The Flower Moon has a budget of around $200 million (which, by the way, was one of the reasons Hollywood pulled out and let a streamer go first), the film is on the verge of becoming a hit. epic length of 200 minutes come. If so, Martin Scorsese underlines once again his love of expansive fabrics. It won’t be long before the first trailer is released.
