Very different from Margot Robbie: this is what Lady Gaga looks like as Harley Quinn in “Joker 2”.

Lady Gaga will star as Harley Quinn in Joker 2, that’s been a fact for a while now. So after Margot Robbie recently made her mark on the well-known DC character (in “Suicide Squad”, “Birds Of Prey” and “The Suicide Squad”), now a new actress gets the chance – and just like with the DC smash hit “Joker” opposite Joaquin Phoenix.

After director and screenwriter Todd Phillips already posted a joint photo of the two main characters in February 2023, more photos of Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga have now found their way to the public as location shooting is currently taking place in New York. Above all Lady Gaga’s new photos are causing a stir as they show off their Harley Quinn look for the first time:

Including the gossip magazine images to find (you can find more snapshots by clicking the embedded tweet) Lady Gaga is featured in the classic Harley Quinn colors of red, black and white. However, in keeping with Phoenix’s Joker, her costume is significantly less comical than in the comics or even Margot Robbie’s version of the character. The more realistic approach of the “Joker” movies is also evident here.

However, the check pattern on Harley’s blouse, jacket, and tights, as well as the suggested clown makeup and colors, are a clear reference to the comic book template.

Will Harley get her Joker out of jail?

Incidentally, a kind of protest scene was filmed in New York, in which police officers shield Harley Quinn, played by Lady Gaga.as crowds of people demonstrate around them, some in Joker or Clows makeup or carrying signs demanding the Joker’s release.

Additional set images show Arthur Fleck, aka Joker, being taken off in a prison transport, and Harley Quinn in a slightly more “normal” look. So maybe there’s some kind of court hearing going on here, in which Harley plays an important role.

In addition circulates a front page of a newspaper called the Gotham Examiner, reporting the love story between the Joker and Harley Quinn. It shows a picture of Harley Quinn being incarcerated at Arkham State Hospital, the same hospital where Arthur is treated at the end of Joker.

Additionally, the cover reveals that Harley Quinn in “Joker 2” is actually called Harleen Frances Quinzel – just like in the comics, she was probably a psychiatrist before she fell for the Joker and started a criminal career.

“Joker 2: Folie à Deux” will be released in German cinemas on October 3, 2024.
