“Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” will be a farewell in many ways: on the one hand, it is already clear that director and screenwriter James Gunn will make his last “GotG” film here, after all, as the new DC co-boss and director and author of “Superman: Legacy” had more than enough on his plate for years to come. And on the other hand, we will probably have to say goodbye to some Guardians themselves (in the case of Drax, that is already certain). It’s a good thing that the Guardians’ farewell performance seems to have a truly epic running time.
Atom tickets can be found on the US movie ticket website a running time of two hours and 29 minutes (149 minutes) for “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3”. That reports the Marvel fan site and proves this with a screenshot. Since atomtickets.com is not accessible from Germany, we cannot verify the information ourselves.
By the way, it is a bit early to be able to rely one hundred percent on such information from a cinema operator or ticket provider. After all, it’s still more than a month until the theatrical release. Some caution is advised here.
On the other hand, the (alleged) running time of “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” doesn’t just fit the fact that the grand trilogy finale awaits us here. Also James Gunn has already confirmed that “Guardians 3” should be longer than the first two parts “Guardians Of The Galaxy” (two hours and one minute) and “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2” (two hours and 16 minutes). So even if part 3 could be a few minutes longer or shorter, it will definitely be more than 136 minutes.
As long as “Avengers 3: Infinity War”?
Incidentally, should two hours and 29 minutes turn out to be correct, Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 would open 4th longest MCU movie ever set – roughly equal in length “Avengers 3: Infinity War” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. Here’s the full list of the ten longest MCU movies (all runtimes rounded):
- Avengers 4: Endgame – 182 minutes
- “Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever” – 162 minutes
- “Eternals” – 156 minutes
- Avengers 3: Infinity War – 149 minutes
- Spider-Man: No Way Home – 149 minutes
- Captain America: Civil War – 148 minutes
- “The Avengers” – 143 minutes
- Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron – 141 minutes
- Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier – 136 minutes
- Guardians of the Galaxy part 2 – 136 minutes
According to James Gunn, one thing is already certain: the second “Guardians Of The Galaxy” will definitely leave this top 10 list. We are curious how long part 3 will be and will keep you informed. The German cinema release of “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” is on May 3, 2023.
