New on Netflix: An action hit finally enters its long-awaited next round – for fans of “John Wick 4”!

Starting today, you can stream both the star-studded thriller series The Night Agent and the action prequel Furies on Netflix. We will briefly introduce you to the two titles.

“The Night Agent”: suspense from the creators of “The Shield”.

The Night Agent“ is the new series of Shawn Ryan, who caused a sensation with the tough police series “The Shield”. Young FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) finds himself at the center of a grand conspiracy in the adaptation of bestselling author Matthew Quirk’s novel of the same name (“The 500”).

His job is actually to guard a telephone in the basement of the White House that should never ring. When he does, and a woman on the other end of the line delivers a message, it’s up to Peter to identify a mole whose trail leads to the President’s Oval Office. He is soon hunted by killers themselves. Luther star DB Woodside and Hong Chau, newly nominated for The Whale, co-star in the ten-part miniseries.

“Furies”: action by and with Veronica Ngo

Veronica Ngo is one of those names that action movie fans should have on their radar right now. The Vietnamese has already appeared in a number of Hollywood roles (“Da 5 Bloods”, “Star Wars 8” and “The Princess” as well as “The Old Guard”), but she was especially thrilled as the lead actress in the furious and brutal Netflix Action Cracker ” Fury”.

With “Furies” she is now doing a prequel, taking a little less time in front of the camera, only having a small supporting role and directing it herself instead. Interestingly, the background of the villain of the first film is told: Thanh Soi (now embodied by newcomer Dong Anh Quynh), who later manages an illegal organ trade, is still fighting for justice in 1990s Saigon. Together with two colleagues campaigners, she tries to break up a criminal syndicate.

After a pre-festival premiere in the US at SXSW, audiences have been impressed at least once – with some commenting that Ngo is breaking new ground. “Furies” has less of the martial arts action of “Furies” and more of the gun-fu of the “John Wick” series – which doesn’t have to be bad either – and parallel to the theatrical release of “John Wick 4” might even be pretty good. Because if you want more of it, you can get it on Netflix after you’ve been to the cinema (or vice versa).
