It’s over and done with: this will probably be Bruce Willis’ last film – and then it will be released in Germany

The news shocked film fans worldwide in March 2022: Bruce Willis will end his acting career due to an aphasia disorder that severely affects cognitive abilities. This year, the diagnosis was then made more specifically: Willis suffers from incurable frontotemporal dementia, which eventually makes working in front of the camera impossible.

However, before reaching that point, the one-time Die Hard star made as many (direct-to-video) movies as possible to support his family as best he could. That’s why, even after the announcement of the sad news, all sorts of action movies are still being released for the home theater market, mostly featuring Willis in smaller roles (but it’s still on the respective cover, of course). In 2022 alone, about eleven (!) new films with Bruce Willis were released in the US.

However, we are gradually approaching the end of the Hollywood star’s pre-produced B-movies. After a long time it was not yet completely clear with which film the 68-year-old is really going to stop, it now seems to be certain (unless suddenly another film is conjured up): The sci-fi ripper”Assassin – Every body is a weapon“ should now be Bruce Willis’ truly last film – and he already has a German release date…

Even more Bruce Willis in Germany

While “Assassin” is actually the only upcoming film in Bruce Willis’ filmography according to the IMDb (it’s set to be released in the US on March 31, 2023), we’ve got some more waiting in Germanyas the local release of some other productions already available overseas are also pending.

“Detective Knight 3: Independence” will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on May 5, 2023, followed by “Wrong Place” on May 26. “Assassin” awaits us in this country on June 30like now reported. Chances are, though, that this basically Willis’ final appearance won’t be the last we see. The sci-fi prison actor “Corrective Measures” and the action thriller “Paradise City,” which reunites Willis with his “Pulp Fiction” co-star John Travolta, still have no date. Both films could therefore only find their way to Germany after “Assassin”.

But what is Bruce Willis’ latest movie really about? Assassin presents us with a near future where a private security firm led by Willis’ character has developed a new microchip that allows spies to take over other people’s bodies, which they then use to carry out missions as mysterious as they are deadly.

However, when one of these agents (Mustafa Shakir) is killed during such an operation, his wife (Nomzamo Mbatha) takes his place to hold those responsible accountable. In addition to Willis, there’s also “Prison Break” star and Uwe Boll favorite Dominic Purcell.
