New this week on Netflix: the highly anticipated next installment in an action hit

Like every Sunday, we give you a quick overview of what’s coming to Netflix next week. This time nicely international – with a Turkish series, an Indian thriller, action film from Vietnam and a Swiss documentary that is worth watching. But there are also supplies from Hollywood. As always, we present selected titles – sorted by day of the week. But enough of the preface, here are the Netflix highlights for March 20-26, 2023:

Monday: Supplement for children

The week starts with the seventh season of a popular children’s series. In Gabby’s dollhouse from animation company Dreamworks (including “Kung Fu Panda”, “Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish”), cat lover Gabby and her friend Panda Paws experience even more adventures of almost 25 minutes. Of course, this also includes the craft tips to imitate after watching.

Tuesday: It’s going to be interactive again

Has even more practical elements Where is mistress? The animated comedy is an interactive program in which the viewer has to answer questions. In this way you not only influence the story of cat Pud and dog Ham, who wake up in a world in which everyone has disappeared, but you also have to discover whether you are more of a cat or dog lover yourself.

By the way, the original version of the project has quite a prominent cast: comedian Ben Schwartz (“Space Force”) and shooting star Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”, soon “Marvel’s Thunderbolts”) speak the main characters, and there are also many vocal guest appearances .

Wednesday: Series after series

Wednesday is all about series on Netflix this week. Two South American productions are getting a sequel: there is both the second season of the Brazilian mystery series Invisible city as well as the second season of the Argentine political thriller series El Reino: Thy kingdom come.

In addition, Netflix is taking over the German crime series Lauchhammer – Death in Lusatia new in the program after it ran at Das Erste in the fall of 2022. Mišel Maticevic plays an LKA investigator who returns to his old homeland to solve a mysterious murder case.

Meanwhile, there are brand new and exclusive to Netflix Waco: American Apocalypse. The docu-true crime series looks back on an event that made headlines worldwide in 1993. In Waco, Texas, an investigation by US authorities into a cult and its leader led ATF agents to attempt to storm the compound. Gunfights and warlike conditions broke out. The siege of Waco lasted 51 days, many people died…

Thursday: Conspiracy thrillers and hardcore action

On Thursday, a promising new series will start on Netflix: In The Night Agent Gabriel Basso plays an FBI agent who is supposed to be in the White House basement looking at a phone that never rings. But that’s exactly what happens – and when he picks up the phone, he finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy. Hong Chau, who was recently nominated for an Oscar for “The Whale”, is also part of the top series.

It should, on the other hand, really break in furies. In the long-awaited sequel to the brutal Vietnamese action hit “Furie”, which caused quite a stir on Netflix in 2019, Veronica Ngo can now not only be seen on camera, but she also directed it herself. The protagonist of the first film now only takes on a smaller supporting role and also embodies a different character than in the predecessor. Because “Furies” is a prequel. Interestingly, this tells the backstory of the first film’s villain.

Thanh Soi (now played by newcomer Dong Anh Quynh), who later ran an illegal organ trade, is still fighting for justice in Saigon in the 1990s. Together with two fellow campaigners, she tries to break up a criminal syndicate. The trailer and enthusiastic first voices from a festival premiere in the US make it clear that we can once again look forward to interestingly choreographed action.

For this Ngo of course worked again with Samuel Kefi Abrikh, who also choreographed the action in both the first part and in the brutal Hollywood film “The Princess” by “Furie” director Le-Van Kiet.

Friday: A double pack of high voltage – from Turkey and India

Normally, Friday is the big Netflix launch day of the week, but compared to Thursday’s two top titles, things have been very quiet here this week. The Turkish crime series is currently running exclusively on Netflix “Who are we running from?” about a mother who flees in panic from hotel to hotel with her daughter and smells threat everywhere. But soon the daughter asks the question from the series title…

The Indian thriller also promises suspense Chorus Nikal Ke Bhaaga about a couple who want to pay off old debts by stealing a diamond. But her perfect plan for a clandestine deed above the clouds falls apart when the plane is hijacked and a struggle for survival begins…

Saturday: Watchlist time

Netflix has not yet announced any really promising and interesting titles for this Saturday. This can always change at short notice, but even without replenishment your watchlist should be as full as the author of these lines, so the streaming service will likely offer you some alternatives.

Sunday: Influencer documentary – fresh from the cinemas

At the end of the week on Sunday there is the Swiss documentary, which is very worthwhile girls gangwhich only hit theaters a few months ago and was nominated for the European Film Awards, among others.

Director Susanne Regina Meures, known for her works about young people who are active on social media, accompanies Leonie in her film, only 14 years old and already more than a million fans on her social media channels. Now her parents are taking over and are very eager to get off to a flying start. But while mom and dad invent a fairy tale for Leonie and start living their daughter’s alleged dream themselves, they overlook the hard work of the underage girl behind it and the ever-increasing sacrifices Leonie makes…
