It takes time to bring the massive and complex sci-fi world of Pandora to life. Director James Cameron took three hours and twelve minutes in “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water” – bringing an absolutely entertaining adventure to the screen despite this epic length. how long the continuationavatar 3“, which will hit theaters on December 18, 2024, is of course not yet certain at the moment. But now there’s an exciting new rumor surrounding Avatar 3 that extends beyond the sequel’s theatrical release and could mean we’ll see many, many hours of Avatar 3.
Hollywood scooper Jeff Sneider revealed on his podcast The Hot Mic that he have heard of plans to possibly release a longer version of the blockbuster as a mini-series after the theatrical release of “Avatar 3”. Disney+ bring to. But could this rumor really be true? Because there’s been no talk of officially considering a series addition to the “Avatar” franchise until now.
Cameron and his epic plans for “Avatar 3”
James Cameron himself explained in an interview that he could imagine an “Avatar” series: “We see the world of Pandora as a world that can be expanded beyond movies.” But he also immediately narrowed down the whole story by stating that the technical effort required to shoot a series of this size was perhaps too great. But in the case of the current rumor, things are different: No extra series would be filmed at all, Disney would use the existing material from “Avatar 3”.
And it’s said there’s plenty of it, which is why Jeff Sneider’s latest scoop seems so plausible: an earlier rumor Sneider pointed out in the podcast also received again, namely, says, that James Cameron has already made a nine-hour first draft of Avatar 3 – and insists that the full visual effects be completed!
But what’s the point of producing the very complex effects if everything is finally edited into a three or four hour movie? It’s not uncommon for the first parts of movies to be very long, but these rough cuts usually contain unfinished special effects. They are usually not completed until what remains of the first cut has been determined.
Will the nine-hour version of “Avatar 3” become a series?
Now it would make sense that James Cameron had such epic plans for Avatar 3: Because Disney Could then use the finished footage that doesn’t make it to theatrical release for the extended series release – and it would allow Cameron to share as much of his Pandora vision with the public as possible.
His interest in sharing much of his work with viewers only became apparent when a whopping three hours (!) of bonus features was announced for the streaming release of “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water”.
Of course, even if such plans were considered at Disney, it’s still open whether they will actually be implemented – it remains to be seen if there will actually be an “Avatar 3” series after the theatrical release of “Avatar 3”.
At least we already know a few things about “Avatar 3” itself: the new Fire Na’vi people, the “Ash People”, will be introduced – and “Game Of Thrones” star Oona Chaplin will reprise the role of Varang. play to lead More about this and also about “Avatar 4” and “Avatar 5” can be found here:
