New episodes of the hit fantasy series Shadow and Bone, based on Leigh Bardugo’s best-selling books, are now available on Netflix. And just in time for the start, showrunner Eric Heisserer revealed that he’s been secretly working on further supplies of the Grishaverse for a while now – and that should make many viewers very happy, because it’s about the fan favorites “Six of Crows”. . This gang around Kaz Brekker (Freddy Carter) has been the subject of many a spin-off since season 1 of the main series…
Eric Heiser revealed in the interview with not only that he is one Six Of Crows spinoff works, but even gave some details about the offshoot of the series, for example the length: it should be eight episodes for the time being.
But he also had a small downer ready: “Six Of Crows” is still in an early stage of development and I have no green light from Netflix yet. Whether the series actually goes into production depends on how well the newly released second season of “Shadow And Bone” is received by the public.
“Six Of Crows”: “The scripts are phenomenal”
Nevertheless, Heisserer and his team have already done a lot of preparatory work. He confirmed That’s why he shared showrunner duties with Daegan Fryklind for Season 2 of Shadow And Bone – as he also oversaw the writing team for the spinoff. Successfully: “The scripts for the eight episodes [von ‚Six Of Crows‘] are phenomenal and that is why I am really proud of my team.”
The Six Of Crows from Ketterdam are Kaz (Freddy Carter), Inej (Amita Suman), Jesper (Kit Young), Nina (Danielle Galligan), Matthias (Calahan Skogman) and Wylan (Jack Wolfe). They also got their own stories from Leigh Bardugo – in the “Six Of Crows” dilogy, comprising the novels “The Song of the Crows” and “The Gold of the Crows”.
Not as a replacement for “Shadow and Bone” Stafel 3!
It is these two books that Heisserer especially wants to incorporate into the spin-off “Six Of Crows”, including the popular storyline about the drug Jurda Parem. Part of the first spin-off season takes place during the events of the Season 2 finale of Shadow And Bone. Then you’d move on to the standalone adventures of the gang of crows – the thought is that the main series “Shadow And Bone” around Alina Starkov (Jessie May Li) and the spin-off “Six Of Crows” could then exist in parallel, with possible overlaps.
So fans can rest easy: even though a sequel is already in the works, the plan is still to continue the main series as well. But whether “Shadow and Bone” season 3 comes out will ultimately also depend on the success of the second season – i.e. how many minutes of the new episodes will be streamed within the first four weeks.
