Amid 6,500 Gallons of Fake Blood: ‘Evil Dead Rise’ Creators Announce Appearance of Ultimate ‘Dance of the Devil’ Star

After the mega-successful “Tanz der Teufel” reboot “Evil Dead”, which remains one of the bloodiest films of the last 15 years, another demon world movie made by Sam Raimi was soon the subject – and with it hope I think we might get to see original “Dance the Devils” hero Bruce Campbell as Ash again after all. After three movies and at least three seasons of the “Ash Vs. Evil Dead” series, his fans still can’t seem to get enough of what is probably the most famous chin in horror movie history…

… but early on, the makers of “Evil Dead Rise” centered around director Lee Cronin (“The Hole In The Ground”) took the wind out of those dream dreams. You want to break away from Ash to tell your own story. However, as it’s now been revealed, that doesn’t mean Campbell isn’t in Cronin’s film somehow anyway:

Director Cronin has now revealed that Bruce Campbell is “hidden” in his film. Opposite the filmmaker revealed that he has a “little appearance in the film” that may not be apparent at first glance. Because Cronin allowed himself to be interviewed even make a promise…

“The first person to see it and tweet me gets $50 from me,” Cronin said. This suggests that Campbell appears as a Deadite or a demon, and is barely recognizable under all the makeup and his mask. Or it only appears in the form of a photo, a newspaper article or something like that – somewhere in the background or so small in the picture that you hardly notice it. So we shouldn’t necessarily hope for a return of good old Ash at this point.

Campbell, who is already on board as executive producer of “Evil Dead Rise”, has not only convinced in leading roles in the past, but has also caused enthusiasm with his guest appearances – for which Sam Raimi is happy to use him, for example in his ‘Spider-Man’ movies.

Is one of the bloodiest movies of all time waiting for us?

As early as October 2021, Lee Cronin published photos of the shooting and spoke in one breath, among other things, about an incredible 6,500 liters of fake blood that would have been used in the shooting of “Evil Dead Rise”. By comparison, that’s about four times what Quentin Tarantino needed in “Kill Bill” and more than five times what Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees lost in their “Freddy Vs. Jason” clash.

While six-figure liters were consumed for “Cabin In The Woods”, “Piranha 3D” and also “Evil Dead”, the red vein of life is an essential part of the recipe of “Tanz der Teufel” – but only a part. Atmosphere and atmosphere are at least as important. And in any case, the trailer of the film is not missing:

We’ll see how it all works in the final movie in cinemas from April 27. Then, for a change, we experience how the demons fight in the big city. This time the action is transferred from a cabin in the middle of the woods to Los Angeles, where the two sisters Beth (Lily Sullivan) and Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) discover the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis – thus opening the gates to Hell… .
