Monday it was that time again: in Günther Jauch’s chair at “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” several candidates were able to prove their general knowledge. One thing stood out in particular: Iris Hochberger is very nervous when she sits down with Jauch. First she takes a sip of water and decides to start the quiz with four jokers.
Hochberger does so well in the quiz that Jauch has to sigh again and again when he solves the answer. It’s going too fast for him, he says. With conversations in between, he tried to slow down their progress, he admits. Did you also know all the questions?
15 questions
When the question of 500 euros is about beer, Jauch confesses that he was drunk for the first time in Bamberg – the candidate comes from this region. The culprit would have been a smoked beer with a slightly higher percentage.
The sympathetic kinesiologist first worked as a bank clerk in a small branch and was once mugged by a robber, she says. Without any arguments she handed out the coal – but the approximately 5,000 German marks were apparently not enough for the robber. When he asked if that was all she replied “yes” although of course there would have been more money. The bandit, who was only about 16 years old, was caught because he behaved so conspicuously that the police had to check him out. When asked where all the money in his pocket came from, he truthfully replied, “From the bank.”
Without a joker and at high speed, she rushed to the question of 64,000 euros. There she was asked what the logo of Amnesty International showed. Your Phone Joke Michel Pelikan, who works as a self-employed caterer and is “pretty smart,” knew the answer. He himself is a member of Amnesty International and therefore has the right answer ready without hesitation. With the question of 125,000 euros, Iris Hochberger then uses three jokers: neither the public joker nor the extra joker really help her. Finally, she guesses the 50:50 joker without being sure of her answer. Because the risk is too great for her, she renounces the game and takes home the 64,000 euros.
She wants to use the prize money to buy her daughter a new mobile phone and a stove for herself – for her old house, which she recently bought. “What oven?” wants Jauch to know – but she doesn’t know exactly yet. The only important thing is that she can see the fire burning through a window pane.
