The “In Memoriam” video always gives goosebumps – and then discussions why this or that person is not mentioned. But when Lenny Kravitz accompanied the memory of the deceased with the song “Calling All Angels” at the ceremony in 2023, many questioning eyebrows went up and there were indignant reactions on Twitter.
For example, actress Anne Heche, who died on August 11, 2022 after a serious car accident, was missing in the segment ‘In Memoriam’. However, some people not named in the live broadcast, including Charlbi Dean Kriek, were fired by the Academy on the Oscar website immortalized. The 2023 “In Memoriam” segment honored James Caan, Angela Lansbury, Wolfgang Petersen, Gina Lollobrigida, Jean-Luc Godard, Burt Bacharach and many more at the ceremony – including “Grease” star Olivia Newton-John.
