Netflix: the rise and controversy of ‘Pornhub’

Netflix has done it again! The streaming giant has brought the story of Pornhub, the internet’s most famous adult entertainment platform, to the small screen with a documentary that will explore its rise to fame and the controversy that led to a public outcry demanding its closure.

Pornhub quickly found success by disrupting the industry’s business model, changing the way adult content was distributed and produced, and as an endless stream of explicit videos became imperative, the site began to receive increasing scrutiny.

The creators of erotic content on the site they found an opportunity to reach a wider audience and a sustainable way of earning a living, uses threatens, as they say, general censorship.

The site has been accused of incitement human trafficking for the purpose of sex and possession of material without consent in your content catalog such as abuse videos and revenge porn.

Tudum, the official site of Netflix, explained this since 2020, when an opinion appeared on it “The New York Times” the site faced lawsuits from victims of the attack and from activists who claim that the platform deals with the trafficking of children for the purpose of sex.

In an opinion piece, several women, who were minors, recount how they were exploited by posting their assaults on the platform, stories that went viral and set off a series of demands.

Under the title “To the Bottom: The Story of Pornhud” everything described above is exposed, except for the pledge in moral contradictions included in the content that users upload to the platform.

Documentary directed by Suzanne Hillingerfeatures corporate employees, activists and stars such as Wolf Hudson, Siri Dahl, Natassia Dreams, Cherie DeVille and Asa Akira.

“Deep To The Bottom: The Story of Pornhud” will be added to the content catalog platform next March 15.
