Disney’s “Arielle” remake: Is this the first look at the “real” crab Sebastian?

The popular Disney princess Arielle will soon return to the cinema, this time in a proper film adaptation – but of course there is also a lot of animation used, otherwise it will be difficult to portray creatures like Sebastian the crab or Fabius the fish as Ariel’s best friends in the musical bring fairy tales to life.

This time Arielle is played by a real actress, namely Halle Bailey. Your animal friends, on the other hand, can come out of the computer as photo-realistic figures, as was the case, for example, with the remake of Disney’s “The Lion King”. And like crab Sebastian in the new “Arielle the mermaid‘ might seem, this is now suggested by photos of an ‘Arielle’ puzzle that a Disney fan account posted on Twitter:

The motif of the puzzle itself, with Ariel in the middle, is clearly not from the movie, it is a drawing made for the puzzle. But a picture further down the box, of the user also shot a close-up, showing a realistic-looking view of an underwater world, the look of which fits well with what we’ve seen in the previous teaser trailers – so it’s very possible that we’re seeing Crab Sebastian here as she will be seen in the movie. By the way, Sebastian is then voiced by Daveed Diggs.

At least the crab looks pretty real – and after all, the remake is a real movie, as I said, but also with CGI parts that are supposed to be realistic. By the way, confirmation of what Krabbe Sebastian really looks like should be available soon: after two short teasers, it probably won’t be long before Disney releases the first proper trailer for “The Little Mermaid.” The cinema release is on May 25, 2023.

The cast of Rob Marshall’s new “Arielle” movie is definitely worth seeing (or hearing): In addition to Halle Bailey as Arielle and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, there’s also Melissa McCarthy as the sea witch Ursula (this one was briefly seen in the latest teaser), as well as Javier Bardem as King Triton, Awkwafina as Seagull Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Fish Fabius, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Chef Louis and Daveed Diggs as Crab Sebastian.
