The Buried Giant was published in 2015 by British Nobel laureate Kazuo Ishiguro. The story is set in Great Britain, after the reign of King Arthur, in the Dark Ages. After a long war with the Saxons, not much is left of the country and peace does not seem to last. A fog of oblivion is descending more and more over Britain – in the truest sense of the word. However, the fog not only ensures that the atrocities of war are forgotten, but also that one no longer remembers one’s own past.
Axl and Beatrice, who have grown old, love each other very much, but are afraid to forget their togetherness because of their neighbor.
