Quentin Tarantino conquered the film world in the 1990s not only with his directorial work “Reservoir Dogs” (1992) and “Pulp Fiction” (1994), but also gained fame for his screenplays – for films such as “Natural Born Killers” (1994) or “True Romance” (1993). With cult dialogues, quirky cool characters and rough action, he quickly grew into a cult filmmaker, which attracted countless freeriders. One of the most famous: “Love And A .45” by CM Talkington.
Despite the star cast, the action thriller was not a great success, certainly not in Germany. Here the film even ended up in the index in its uncut version, which was subsequently not allowed to be advertised or sold openly – and was never released fully dubbed. Until now. After “Love And A.45” was de-indexed in 2019 and the FSK subsequently released the film from the age of 18, it is now being released entirely in German for the first time:
You can now get your copy exclusively in the Turbine Medien shop. If you’ve been waiting a long time for a release like this from the unknown cult hit, now’s your chance to finally bring home the movie in full length, in HD and in dubbed version. But watch out: The film only appears in a limited edition of only 999 pieces!
Those who know Turbine’s coveted collector’s items know that they are often sold out in no time. So if you’ve had the movie on your list for a long time, you probably shouldn’t wait too long to pre-order. By the way, the release date is March 3, 2023. Then you get the film in a media book including DVD and Blu-ray, booklet of 28 pages and numerous extras such as deleted scenes, an audio commentary and the retro version of the film in 4:3.
This is “Love and a .45”
Love And A.45 tells the story of Watty (Gil Bellows), Starlene (Renée Zellweger) and Billy (Rory Cochrane) as they struggle to survive violent robberies. A cashier has to learn the hard way not to provoke the petty criminals: psychopathic Billy goes berserk and shoots the woman out of hand.
Watty and Starlene then decide to turn their backs on Billy and make it together as a couple – and are already sliding into the next misery when two Texas Rangers attack Starlene. She shoots one of the two, after which she and Watty have no choice but to flee. As of now, it’s just Watty, Starlene, and the Windshield – and her ’45s.
Alongside Gil Bellows (“The Condemned”), Rory Cochrane (“Enemies – Hostiles”) and Oscar winner Renée Zellweger (for “Cold Mountain” and “Judy”), “Love And A .45-inch Cast That Rangs From Hollywood legend Peter Fonda (“Easy Rider”) to horror cult mime Jeffrey Combs (“Re-Animator”). Above all, of course, the crime-action thriller burns in your memory, as both in content and staging it is reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino’s similarly lead-laden, adrenaline-infused material.
Anyone who, in addition to Tarantino’s originals, also regularly enjoys similar stored material or simply wants to see what Tarantino can do just that little bit better than others, will have nothing wrong with the German uncut premiere on Blu-ray.
