Zack Snyder’s Justice League 2 on Netflix? DC boss James Gunn responds to fan requests

One thing to take away from fans of Zack Snyder and the DC era he shaped: they are persistent. While almost all signs currently point to a new beginning at Warner and DC, some fans on the internet are holding onto their desire for a continuation of the so-called Snyderverse, so they want more DC movies starring Zack Snyder and featuring the characters he introduced, such as Ben Affleck’s Batman, Henry Cavill’s Superman and Co.

One demand in particular is currently in the room: #sellthesnyderversetonetflix. So the Snyderverse is supposed to be sold to Netflixbecause Snyder has found a new home at the streaming service and is working there on his “Star Wars” variant “Rebel Moon”.

Now that “Guardians Of The Galaxy” director James Gunn – who recently co-steers DC’s fate with Peter Safran – responded to fan demands, making it clear how unrealistic these wishes are:

Because as Gunn clarifies in the tweet above, First, Netflix has never expressed interest in acquiring the so-called Snyderverse, although he has even spoken to those in charge of the streaming service about other (DC) things. Aside from the fact that it’s far from clear whether the Snyderverse stars would be interested in a sequel at all.

And Second, according to Gunn himself, Zack Snyder has shown no interest in further Snyderverse films and on the contrary, I seem very happy with his new projects at Netflix. On the train, Gunn also revealed that he had spoken to Snyder.

In another tweet, Gunn elaborated on what that conversation with Zack Snyder looked like: “He contacted me to show his support for my decisions. He’s a great guy. Again, he seems very happy with the huge world he’s building.”

And Snyder should indeed be busy for now: “Rebel Moon” isn’t just “just” a single movie, but a two-part movie. And it should also lay the foundation for an entire “Rebel Moon” franchise on Netflix, just as the streaming service likes to do with successful brands (see “The Witcher”) and Zack Snyder already did with “Army Of The Dead” at Netflixen.

Rebel Moon will be released on Netflix on December 22, 2023. The sequel could be released a year later. The next DC cinema movie is “Shazam 2: Fury Of The Gods” (German cinema release: March 16, 2023), before the old DC Universe (DCEU) comes to an end in 2023 with “The Flash” and “Aquaman 2”. and the new DC Universe (DCU) can begin…
