Part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since 2014, The Guardians Of The Galaxy are one of the last survivors after the departure of characters like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Captain America ( Chris Evans) Elements from the early stages of the MCU. But The almost ten-year era of the chaotic Marvel squad is now coming to an end – in “Guardians of the Galaxy part 3“.
Because with “Guardians Of The Galaxy 3” not only the director and screenwriter say goodbye James Gunnwho is already primarily responsible for the fate of the DC Universe (DCU) and planned the “GotG” movies as a trilogy from the start. Many also assume that not all Guardians will survive the events of the third film or permanently withdraw from the MCU for any other reason.
Rocket and Drax in particular are considered likely candidates by many fans. In fact, Drax actor Dave Bautista has very clearly confirmed that after “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” he will no longer be starring as the likable, bumbling powerhouse. So even if there is another appearance of the Guardians in the MCU after “Guardians Of The Galaxy 3”, the team will look very different – and also not being able to take advantage of James Gunn’s quirky humor, his excellent choice of music and his loving family moments.
What can we expect in “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3”?
But before that happens, the Guardians must first survive a new intergalactic adventure – and here they face two familiar adversaries: The main villain of “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” is the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji)a ruthless and obsessed scientist and the creator of Rocket.
And then there’s Adam Warlock (Will Poulter), whose appearance was already hinted at the end of “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2” and who will give the Guardians a hard time at least in the beginning of the film. Sooner or later, though, he’ll likely switch sides and become one of the MCU’s many heroes…
