Leaving Netflix soon: In this mysterious thriller from the director of “Knock At The Cabin” a Marvel star slips into 24 (!) roles

In the coming days, some movie highlights will disappear from the streaming provider with the capital N. It is of course always possible that the movies will be available again as a subscription in the future, but when and if these movies will return to Netflix remains to be seen at this time. don’t say right now.

It’s especially a shame about the mystery thriller”Divide” by “Knock on the hut“-Director M. Night Shyamalanwhich you can stream on Netflix until February 15, 2023. You can think what you like of the director, but “Split” is definitely one of the better works from the filmmaker’s mixed vita, which fans of mystery thrillers in particular should definitely give a chance.

Masterpiece by James McAvoy

Also in our FILMSTARTS review we give a solid 4 out of 5 stars and draw the following conclusion: “‘Split’ is M. Night Shyamalan’s best film in many years”. This is thanks in no small part to the insane performance of Marvel star James McAvoy (“X-Men: Future is Past”), who puts in one of the best performances of his career in this movie, finishing 24 (! ) plays different characters – of which Die eight can also be seen in the film.

Anyone who now thinks of bodysuits and silent comedies à la “The Klumps Family and the Mad Professor”, in which comedian Eddy Murphy plays an entire family on his own, can no longer be wrong: James McAvoy delivers an acting masterpiece in “Split”, jumping effortlessly between his characters in seconds. He plays the scared kid just as much as the mean Creep who kidnaps young girls, or the extroverted fashion designer.

And that’s what “Split” is about

Teenage boys Claire (Haley Lu Richardson), Martha (Jessica Sula) and Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy) are kidnapped by a stranger (James McAvoy) and locked in a basement. What does the man want from you? And whose are those other voices? It soon turns out that Kevin suffers from a personality disorder and shares his body with multiple other identities.

Sometimes he meets them as a lisping child, sometimes as a stern man and sometimes as Kevin who is afraid of germs and forces the girls to clean the bathroom. The girls have to get out of here because the man has an inner time bomb. “The Beast” is one of many different personalities that seems to be in its captor’s body, and it’s about to break free and take control…
