That’s why you really have to pee on “Avatar 2” – it’s not just because of the length of the blockbuster!

During his visits to the cinema of “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water”, the author of these lines could always find that countless people needed to go to the toilet. Director James Cameron took that into account. That’s totally “okay,” he explained in several interviews. People shouldn’t wait for certain scenes, just go out when they want (or rather, when they have to). They could just catch up on missed scenes by going to the cinema again, winked the director, who is responsible for three of the most successful films of all time at the box office.

The fact that so many people feel the urge to go to the bathroom when they see “Avatar 2” in theaters isn’t just because of the blockbuster’s length. After all, you can last up to three and a half hours without going to the breastfeeding spot. And not just because one or the other sips an entire pint of soda during the commercial for the movie. It also has to do with the film itself – especially James Cameron’s well-known desire for perfection down to the smallest detail.

In “Avatar 2” it splashes a lot

Several studies have already shown this that the sound of water stimulates the urge to urinate. This knowledge is already being applied in many ways in the medical world. The disease LUTS, which occurs more often in men over 50 and in which urination no longer works so well, to say the least, is treated with water sounds in several therapies. They help patients actually empty their bladder. Water sounds are also used in potty training for small children…

… and there are a lot of water sounds in “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water”. Above all not just water lapping in the background, James Cameron made this an extremely important part of his soundtrack. As is known, the motion capture recordings for scenes that take place underwater are also recorded underwater. The reason for this is not only the look that Cameron was aiming for, but also the sound. James Cameron had installed several microphones in the underwater tanks used during filming, which were only intended to record the background noise of the water and then incorporate it into the film.

Splashing water can be heard almost constantly in “Avatar 2”. You may not always notice it, but the subconscious registers it, hears it and it has an effect.

The opposite of explains doctor who specializes in the treatment of problems with urination, Dr. knows delay, that the audio track in “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water” can increase the urge to urinate. The urge to go to the toilet quickly can be increased by the sound. The visual stimulation in many water images also has an effect, he says.

Means: Of course “Avatar 2” doesn’t suddenly make you run to the toilet when your bladder is actually completely empty. But if your bladder fills up (say, with the aforementioned 1 liter of soda), you’ll probably feel the urge to go to the bathroom much faster than you would otherwise. So while you may think I can handle three and a half hours as usual, here the urge can suddenly be too strong after two hours.

If necessary, go to the toilet during “Avatar 2”!

Like James Cameron, the urologist also recommends giving in to the urge to go to the toilet. This is also recommended from a medical point of view. Compulsive compliance can damage the nervous system. And that hardly justifies missing a minute or two of a movie.

So if you’re watching Avatar 2: The Way Of Water in theaters (and possibly returning) and feel the urge to go to the bathroom, don’t worry. Many people around the world feel the same way and it doesn’t mean you suddenly have a particularly weak bladder, it just hit you with the stimulation with premium water sound. So the sound of “Avatar 2” is not only pretty good, it’s also pretty awful…
