Jenna Ortega in “You – You will love me”: that’s why the “Wednesday” star is not in season 4 of the Netflix series

With the “The Addams Family” spin-off “Wednesday”, Netflix managed to score a real hit at the end of 2022. The series spent weeks at number 1 on the streamer charts – in the US, in Germany and in numerous other countries around the world. So it came as no great surprise that Netflix kicked off Season 2 after just a few weeks, much to the delight of fans and cast.

But “Wednesday” had drawbacks for another Netflix series that we didn’t even know about: Lead actress Jenna Ortega was and is also part of the thriller series “You – Du will love me”!

The fourth season of “You” just aired on Netflix and like show runner Sera Gambling in an interview with explained, Ortega should also be in the final episodes! Due to the “Wednesday” recordings, however, this was not possible due to time.

Ortega played 15-year-old Ellie Alves in You Season 2, who lives with her sister Delilah (Carmela Zumbado) in the same apartment building as main character Joe (Penn Badgley) and is more or less protected by him. In fact, Ellie at least survives this relationship, which is almost extraordinary, as viewers of You know. She is also mentioned in season 3 and nothing would have stood in the way of a comeback in the new episodes – except “Wednesday”.

That’s what Season 4 of “You” is all about

Joe’s complicated relationship with his two neighbours, Ellie and Delilah, is one of the reasons for Joe’s fresh start in Season 4. Joe left the US for Europe and now works as Professor Jonathan Moore in London. He wants to focus on an academic career and leave his old obsessions behind.

But although Moore is mainly concerned with his passion for books, now sporting a beard, wandering unobtrusively through the streets of London and maintaining at most platonic relationships with his students, the past seems to catch up with him again. When a body appears that has clearly been murdered, the question arises as to whether Joe was involved or not…

The first five of the ten episodes of the fourth season of “You – Du will love me” are currently streaming on Netflix. The rest will follow in March. Of course, you can still watch Jenna Ortega in “Wednesday” on Netflix.
