Because the focus of the new “Spider-Man” series, which is being made for Amazon Prime Video, will be the dark Spider-Man Noir, who already has a role in the animated film “Spider-Man: A New Universe”. However, the new project will not be a (!) animated series.
Intended to be live-action, the self-titled Spider-Man noir series follows an aging, graying superhero set in 1930s New York City. According to an internal source of Peter Parker will not hide behind this Spider-Man. In addition, the project takes place in its own universe. So it won’t be connected to the MCU, but it won’t be connected to “A New Universe” either.
Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir? One more hope
Still, fans can hope Nicolas Cage qualifies for the lead role. After all, he gave the character his commanding voice in “Spider-Man: A New Universe” and can certainly embody an old 1930s Spidey in a floppy hat.

While the new series does its own thing, there are many similarities between the creative team. Because the producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who are also behind “Spider-Man: A New Universe”, as well as the former Sony boss and current Spider-Man keeper Amy Pascal are responsible for the new series. They’ve already brought Cage on board for the animated movie, so check him out for the live-action series as well. But like I said, this is still wishful thinking. There is still no indication that casting is even being considered.
Action experience for Spider-Man noir series on Amazon Prime Video
Will develop the Spider-Man noir series as a writer and executive producer Oren Uziel. The screenwriter knows his way around the action and has been involved in the feature films “22 Jump Street”, “Mortal Kombat” and most recently “The Lost City”.
The Spider-Man Noir series won’t be the only series to be made around the Marvel cosmos for Amazon Prime Video. Some time ago, “Silk: Spider Society” was announced by “The Walking Dead” creator Angela Kang. The plans continue. Independently of Marvel and Disney, Sony still owns the rights to reportedly some 900 characters from the Spider-Man environment and is currently investigating which of them are suitable for series on Amazon Prime Video. Some of these may also be related to their own movies such as “Venom” and “Morbius”, but in some cases they are also completely independent, such as “Spider-Man Noir”.
