“Constantine 2” with Keanu Reeves would come: DC confusion resolved

It’s a real roller coaster ride that anyone who wants “Constantine 2” so bad goes through. When “Constantine” starring Keanu Reeves was released in 2005, the comedy adaptation turned in quite a bit at the box office, but not enough to warrant the planned sequel. But as the years went by, the movie grew in popularity and calls for a sequel grew louder – lead actor Keanu Reeves also fueled the mood. In 2022 there was the redeeming confirmation: Keanu Reeves, director Francis Lawrence, author Akiva Goldsman and producer JJ Abrams are working on “Constantine 2”.

But few have been as inconsistent in recent years as movie plans at DC. When months after the announcement the management team there was replaced and new managers James Gunn and Peter Safran put each project to the test to ultimately lay the foundations for a cohesive universe, the worries were back. Many fans feared that “Constantine 2” wouldn’t fit Gunn and Safran’s plans.

And this fear seemed to be confirmed. After Gunn, who is incidentally very willing to provide information on the short message service, never responded to Twitter inquiries about “Constantine 2,” the project is also completely lacking in his idea of upcoming DC movies. The fact that no syllable was mentioned was confirmation to many fans that “Constantine 2” was quietly, quietly and surreptitiously hackneyed again. But that is not the case.

Warner makes it clear: “Constantine 2” is coming!

Opposite the magazine Hollywood studio Warner has now confirmed that “Constantine 2” has not been canceled. The sequel is still in progress.

Whether “Constantine 2” is one of the few so-called “Elseworlds” projects allowed to exist outside of the new DCU, or even built into the DCU, is still unknown. The latter is very conceivable. Gunn already explained that the announcement of projects that just took place is not complete. With “Swamp-Thing” there is also a film about the dark corner of the DC comics, in which John Constantine also feels at home. You could certainly find clues there.
