How do you actually become rich? Many people ask themselves this question. For example, a good plan is to optimize an item that many people already own and release it in a new version. And yes, of course you can risk too much and overshoot a bit. But sometimes that’s the key to success.
This is what happened to Gabe Cooper and Sean Starner. The two are the founders of Noggin Boss – the manufacturer of giant caps. Yes, giant hoods. Caps that are huge. You’re probably wondering what that should look like, so we don’t want to keep you in suspense. And voila:
But anyone who thinks this is a drunken idea whose success is being wiped out at least as quickly as the marriage between Britney Spears and her childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander (13 hours) is wrong.
The idea behind the caps: Aside from all the contradictions with the fashion world, the caps should be an extraordinary way to support your own favorite team. With this concept, the two founders, Gabe Cooper and Sean Starner, went to the “Shark Tank” (the American version of “The Lion’s Hell”), where young entrepreneurs can pitch their business ideas.
Not only the caps are huge, but also the concept of the men. The “Sharks”, who are literally fighting to invest in the company, think so. Because the idea is already a resounding success.
At the time, they couldn’t fulfill 95 percent of orders because customers wanted caps with licensed logos. The two lacked the experience in the licensing jungle to be able to sell the associated products.
The two have found an enthusiastic investor in Daymond John, the founder of the clothing brand FUBU. Not only that, one of the sharks is none other than Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team. He promises the reasons that if they accept Daymond’s offer, they can sell their Mavericks branded caps in his merchandise stands. We have a deal!
The big break came when American football player Brian Robinson was photographed wearing one of the caps in the locker room after a game. He got the cap.
According to the tabloid TMZ, orders jumped 2,000 percent the following Monday. You can now see the caps more and more in the (American) world of athletes and stars. So it should be a matter of time before the trend spreads from abroad to us. We are happy!
The caps can be ordered for $75 from the Noggin Boss store. But you might just wait a few more weeks for distribution to start in Europe to save shipping costs.
