Netflix sequel to an absolute cult sitcom gets season 2 – with many more episodes!

For comedy fans, the beginning of “The Wild Nineties” was a cause for joy. The Netflix sequel to “That 70 Years Show” not only continued one of the most popular sitcoms of them all, but also revived many of the cult original’s stars. For example, Topher Grace (as Eric), Mila Kunis (as Jackie) and Ashton Kutcher (as Michael) were allowed to appear in their beloved sitcom roles. However, the focus of “That ’90s Show” is no longer on the heroes and heroines of “That ’70s Show”.

Instead, the sequel is about Leia (Callie Haverda), Eric and Donna’s daughter. Driven by a great desire for adventure, she left her childhood home to see her grandparents at Point Place. There she meets the rebellious Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide), her sweet brother Nate (Maxwell Donovan), his girlfriend Nikki (Sam Morelos), the sensitive Ozzie (Reyn Doi) and the charming Jay (Mace Coronel), the son of Michael and Jackie . .

We already know that from season 2

As now reported by various trade journals (e.g ) has been consistently reported, Netflix is renewing “That ’90s Show” for a second season. That means that the clique around Leia and Co. will soon return to the Forman basement to hold their meetings – as Eric and Co. ever did. Although this coming season probably won’t be the biggest part.

Season 2 is reportedly about Leia returning to her parents during the school year and then returning to Point Place for the summer. Further details about the plot are not yet known. However, it seems that season 2 takes place a year after season 1 and therefore no longer takes place in 1995 but in 1996. So far nothing has been confirmed in this regard.

But it is known that “The Wild Nineties” has as many as 16 episodes in the second season. Season 1 consisted of 10 episodes, all of which – apart from the half-hour pilot episode – had a runtime of just over twenty minutes, which is typical for sitcoms. Season 2 probably won’t change that either. It remains to be seen if the stars from “That 70’s Show” i.e. Topher Grace, Ashton Kutcher and Co. will also be there for a brief appearance or if they will slip into bigger roles.
