“Deadpool 3” brings the anti-hero and Wolverine (!) to the MCU – and should still be as brutal as its predecessors

After the success of the equally brutal and wacky Marvel adventures “Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2” (Global box office: over $1.5 billion), plans were soon made for a third screen adventure of the comedic anti-hero played by Ryan Reynolds with the great Shut up loudly. However, five years after part 2, another sequel still hasn’t seen the light of day, for the simple reason that there was a lot going on behind the scenes. But that’s exactly what should make the wait especially worthwhile for fans…

Also brutal under Disney

After the “X-Men” and “Deadpool” studio 20th Century Fox was bought by Disney in 2019, the future of Wade Wilson aka Deadpool was initially uncertain. It was clear that the X-Men would be brought into the mega-successful MCU in the long run. But how do you deal with Deadpool, who, with his violent outbursts and swear words, doesn’t fit in at first glance?

Here, however, all doomsayers soon got everything clear: Not only will Deadpool be introduced in the MCU, too.”dead pool 3‘ was re-rated R, i.e. US adult age rating, an absolute first for a film in the otherwise (more or less) family-friendly Marvel Universe. The sequel must therefore stay true to its predecessors in terms of brutality and crude humor and with it the trademarks of the character.

It will therefore be particularly exciting to see how this fits into the large MCU cosmos. But if anyone can get the hang of just that, then probably the meta character Deadpool, who knows she’s really just a comic or movie character and goes over and over again.

Deadpool meets Wolverine

But that’s not all: protagonist Ryan Reynolds hit a downright bombshell in September 2022 when he announced that That Hugh Jackman will make a surprise comeback as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 — after he actually left his mutant career with 2017’s critically acclaimed “Logan – The Wolverine.”

This makes what many fans of this already legendary pairing and the tongue-in-cheek feud between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have longed for for years. By the way, the round end of “Logan” should be left untouched. It’s still unclear if “Deadpool 3” is just filling in a Wolverine gap before the “Logan” story set in 2029 might play in a parallel world or even time travel (again).

Is Chris Evans making a Marvel comeback?

In general, there is still no concrete information about the plot of “Deadpool 3”. The initial plans for the sequel, which came about under Fox, actually envisioned a bigger role for the X-Force introduced in part 2 and the newcomers Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz). However, that was scrapped under Disney in favor of the introduction of the MCU and the clash between Deadpool and Wolverine.

It is now rumored that the two will indeed travel through different worlds and times in “Deadpool 3”., which would certainly also suit the movie’s location within the MCU’s current Multiverse saga and also give the anarchist Deadpool plenty of opportunity to pull off his practical jokes here. He is also said to use the multiverse to visit old superhero franchises and worlds that – like Deadpool himself – used to belong to Fox (which then could possibly explain Wolverine’s appearance).

Rumor has it that not only the Time Variance Authority (TVA) known from the series “Loki” and their agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) on the plan, but will also ensure that Deadpool meets the Fantastic Four, among others – and not the new Fantastic Four from the MCU reboot scheduled for 2025, but from the first two “Fantastic Four” films of the 2000s! The special highlight: the later Captain America Chris Evans as the fiery Johnny Storm was one of them at the time – who was able to celebrate a small MCU comeback after his farewell appearance as a cap. However, nothing has been confirmed about this yet.

When is Deadpool 3 coming?

“Deadpool 3” is scheduled for November 6, 2024 in German cinemas ushering in the sixth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This will eventually lead to the blockbuster “Avengers 5: The Kang Dynasty” (theater release: April 30, 2025) and “Avengers 6: Secret Wars” (theater release: April 29, 2026), which will be the grand conclusion of the Multiverse saga. to arise.
