Many action fans agreed on one point in 2022: there was simply no way around two movies that stole the show from everyone else:Top gun: Maverick” and “RRR“. Yes, the biggest hit of Tom Cruise’s career and the Indian Netflix spectacle created huge waves – which have not stopped to this day: because now the sequel “Top Gun” (six nominations) and the historical adventure (a nomination) also in the Oscar race! “One Shot – Mission got out of handbakes much smaller sandwiches – which should taste just as good for anyone with a penchant for intense ball orgies, like the two FILMSTARTS editors Björn and Daniel.
They each had the one-shot ripper in their top 20 lists in 2022 and are therefore happy with the second helping that came out of nowhere: because as it has now been revealed, “One Shot 2” is not just planned. The recordings are already in full swing!
Although the film has not yet been officially mentioned anywhere, actress Alexis Knapp has now published a video of the shooting on Instagram – which is not visible to everyone on the private account, but can now also be seen via screenshot. Twitter found it:
@DerekBrocks shared the screenshot of the post, in which Knapp, best known for the Pitch Perfect series, confirms that the shoot is not only fun, but half way through! It does not reveal anything about the content, but unlike part 1, the sequel now seems to play at night. A hashtag also reveals what the film should be called at the end: “One More Shot” (not to be confused with the action hit of the same name from China, due out in March).
According to the article, the staging is once again taken over by James Nunn. And according to comments from users hanging out online in various Scott Adkins fan groups, the British martial arts ace appears to be back as well. At least there should already be a regular video of him. Anyway, a sequel without the sympathizer would be unthinkable anyway!
It is not yet known when “One More Shot” will be released. Until then, you can catch up on the superbly staged, suspenseful and brutal first part – which, at least for FILMSTARTS editors Daniel and Björn, completes the holy action trinity in 2022: cinema (“Top Gun 2”), streaming ( “ RRR”) and DVD/Blu-ray (“One Shot”).

Like many films with Scott Adkins (“Undisputed”, “Doctor Strange”), “One Shot” lives not only on the charisma of the charismatic martial artist, but above all on his compelling staging. Because, as the title suggests, the action figure – unlike its trailer – gets by without any obvious cuts. And that’s what “One Shot” does, especially considering the spectacular and varied shootings into a highly immersive, lead-laden film experience.
While “Top Gun 2” and “RRR” are pretty epic in terms of running time, “One Shot” is nice and fresh with its almost 90 minutes (without credits) for a change – which makes the breathtaking action film even more entertaining than it already is. So if you’re one of the many people who haven’t heard of Adkins’ pinnacle yet, we can only recommend you check it out. Fans of rich direct-to-video action, Scott Adkins and highly staged balleries will certainly get their money’s worth here.
In the first “One Shot,” an elite unit led by Lieutenant Blake Harris (Adkins) is assigned to transport a dangerous prisoner for the CIA. But the team is ambushed: suddenly Harris and his team are surrounded by mercenaries who are after their valuable cargo. The situation seems hopeless, but together with analyst Zoe (Ashley Greene Khoury), the soldiers soon find a possible way out – which must be successful at all costs. Otherwise, there is a risk of a terrorist attack of devastating proportions…
