“Bad Boys 4” Is Coming – Despite the Oscar Slam! Will Smith & Martin Lawrence let it go again

After 17 years between “Bad Boys II” and “Bad Boys For Life”, part 4 of the popular action comedy series will soon follow. Sony Pictures has now confirmed that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will be reunited once again for a fourth film in the Bad Boys franchise.

Just like in “Bad Boys For Life”, the directing duo will perform again this time Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah stage the destructive investigative work of the two agents of chaos. For fans, these returnees behind the camera are certainly a cause for celebration, because already in the third part of the series, the duo perfectly managed to combine the family character of the “Bad Boys” films with breakneck action, making the role almost as if a reunion with old friends felt.

And the screenwriter is also an old acquaintance: Chris Bremner, who also contributed to the script of “Bad Boys 3”, will again be the author of the storylines of Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and his partner Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) . .

Oscar limp delays movie projects

Oscar night 2022 will stay in our memories for a long time: after an innocent but tasteless joke from Chris Rock about Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith steps on stage and gives the comedian a juicy slap in the face – and that on live TV! Even back in place, Will Smith does not rest and verbally continues.

This misbehavior should have repercussions for Smith – if not right away, as the actor was awarded the Best Leading Actor Oscar on the night of the hit – incomprehensible, actually. Weeks later and after some public pressure, the studios responded. Netflix submitted a Smith project (“Fast & Loose“) on ice. He was also banned from Oscar galas for ten years.

Will Smith’s career is recovering

Despite all the prophecies of doom, the career of the Hollywood actor did not end with this ill-fated and very ugly live freak. The historical drama “Emancipation” by Antoine Fuqua (“The Equalizer”) was released on Apple+ in 2022 despite the slap in the face and might have earned the veteran Hollywood actor another Oscar nomination.

And slowly, other studios are starting to tackle the paused Will Smith projects again – including Sonyfor which another sequel to the “Bad Boys” buddy cop series only makes sense, after all, part 3 was not only the highest grossing Hollywood blockbuster of 2020, but was celebrated by critics and fans alike.

It’s currently unknown when we’ll see “Bad Boys 4” in theaters, as the project is still in early development. So we shouldn’t expect a theatrical release before 2024.
