Lara Croft has a new home – it’s called Amazon. The company acquired the rights to the brand after Hollywood studio MGM lost it in the summer of 2022 and it became clear there would be no more Tomb Raider 2 starring Alicia Vikander. Now there’s a reboot coming up at Amazon, and it’s washed up – because there’s a lot more in the pipeline than just a new movie.
how exclusively reported, is on the one hand a “Tomb Raider”series comes to Amazon Prime Video. And for this, according to the sources of one of the most popular filmmakers of the moment commits: Phoebe Waller Bridge is set to write the screenplay for the Lara Croft series and serve as an executive producer.
And the “Fleabag” star brings a lot of action experience, both in front of and behind the camera. Because Waller-Bridge co-wrote the screenplay for “James Bond 007: No Time to Die” and will star alongside Harrison Ford in “Indiana Jones and the Call of Fate” from June 29, 2023.

But also a new one Tomb Raider movie is in the pipeline at Amazon, alongside at least one new Tomb Raider video game which Amazon announced a month ago. Other games are possible, and if successful, other films and new seasons of the series will certainly follow. According to the sources of the being able to tie everything together as is the case with Marvel, for example.
Amazon paid a lot for the rights to the action series about archaeologists and adventurers. An insider with knowledge of the contracts explained opposite, it’s the largest investment of its kind on Amazon after The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Now, of course, the big question is who will play the new Lara Croft after Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander have already played her on screen. The “Tomb Raider” role is probably one that actresses and their agents will be clamoring for from now on. When there will be news about the cast is currently not foreseeable, because how fast the film and series will be developed and when they will start is not yet known.
