Coming soon to Amazon Prime Video: A milestone in gangster cinema, Stallone stands on the brink, and plenty of comic book action from Marvel & DC

Almost every day we have news about what innovations you can stream on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Co. But time and time again, titles disappear from the portfolios of the streaming providers. For example, a lot of movie highlights will be taken from the subscription program at Amazon Prime Video in the coming days. You will find these at the streaming provider in the future, but they can no longer be streamed without additional costs. In this article, we’ll tell you which movies are worth adding an extra streaming shift to.

Only a few days left on Amazon Prime Video: “Scarface”, “Spider-Man” and more

Corpse bride (4 out of 5 stars): The stop-motion animated film from “Wednesday” creator Tim Burton is beautiful to watch and wonderfully morbidly fun. Here Victor van Dort (Johnny Depp), son of a wealthy fishing family, is kidnapped to the underworld after an accidental marriage to the corpse bride Emily (Helena Bonham Carter), while his real bride Victoria Everglot (Emily Watson) remains lonely in the world of the living.

Demon Slayer – The Movie: Mugen Train (4 out of 5 stars): “Demon Slayer – The Movie: Mugen Train” is the highest-grossing anime film of all time, grossing nearly $500 million, surpassing both Spirited Away and Your Name as the highest-grossing movie in Japan. With its fast-paced action and wonderful blend of spirituality and religion, the anime movie is a real hit for us. Nevertheless, you should definitely have seen the first season of the anime series beforehand, because “Demon Slayer – The Movie: Mugen Train” is intended as a bridge movie between the first two seasons.

good times (4 out of 5 stars): A nerve-wracking thriller – a quintessential Safdie Brothers movie, who last got our pulses up to 180 with “Uncut Gems”. In “Good Time” we begin a bank robbery with Robert Pattinson as Connie Nikas. But something goes wrong with this one and eventually Connie’s brother goes to jail. To get him out of there, Connie embarks on an adventurous odyssey through New York’s underworld to get the necessary cash…

Scarface(4.5 out of 5 stars): With “Scarface”, Brian De Palma has created one of the most important and influential gangster films of all time. Al Pacino made a name for himself with his portrayal of the power-hungry drug lord Tony Montana. By the way: Anyone who says that remakes are always bad should know that “Scarface” is a very freely interpreted remake of the 1932 Howard Hawks classic of the same name.

*

cliffhanger(3.5 out of 5 stars): Sylvester Stallone on the edge! In the early ’90s, the air grew thin for the action star – and not just career-wise, but also in the classic “Cliffhanger,” in which Stallone takes off to dizzying heights as a muscular mountaineer. The film is loud, trashy and at the same time a lot of fun. “Cliffhanger” is a festival for action nostalgics who are really in the mood for muscle-heavy spectacle cinema.

*

Safe – Sure (3.5 out of 5 stars): A gritty retro thriller whose gritty pace brings a breath of fresh air to the otherwise highly polished action cinema. Jason Statham cuts a fine figure as a worn-out cage fighter and complements fellow actress Catherine Chan, whom he must protect against triad boss Han Jiao (James Hong). Jason Statham action cinema at its best!

*

The Jackal (3 out of 5 stars): Richard Gere and action legend Bruce Willis in one movie? In The Jackal, Bruce Willis plays a cold-blooded assassin who kills everyone if he gets enough money. His next job should earn him nearly $70 million: he must take down FBI Director Donald Brown (John Cunningham). To prevent this, Declan Mulqueen (Richard Gere) is sent to the Jackal. A showdown begins, which soon claims the first lives…

*

No half things(3 out of 5 stars): Bruce Willis makes life difficult for Matthew Perry as assassin Jimmy “The Tulip” Tudeski in this action comedy. Entertaining comedy that should provide the best entertainment, especially for “Friends” fans who have always wanted to experience Matthew Perry, known as “Chandler”, outside of his usual sitcom environment.

*

Justice League(3 out of 5 stars): DC’s superhero reunion has been anything but smooth. Even the sometimes rather mediocre comedy blockbusters that were supposed to pave the way to “Justice League” did not bode well for Warner’s “Avengers” counterpart, and the difficulties during production – director Zach Snyder, among others, left the director’s post for private reasons – led to subsequently caused large-scale production to descend into chaos. In any case, the result is a solid comic action film.

*

Spider Man 1-3(4 / 4.5 / 3.5 out of 5 stars): Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy can safely be called the forefather of the gigantic comedy blockbusters of the modern era, because the director of “Tanz der Teufel” has with this trilogy it proved that comic book adaptations are mainstream, can be a hell of a lot of fun and also prove to be hugely profitable at the box office.

*

The Green Hornet (4 out of 5 stars): Special superhero film by cinema magician Michel Gondry, based on a radio series from the thirties.

*

In “Green Hornet,” Gondry sends Seth Rogen into battle as an old-school crime fighter – equipped with a host of tech gadgets – against violent villain Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz). The mix of comedic action and gruff humor works surprisingly well and is still entertaining.
