The filmmakers nominated for the Gouden Raspberry, probably the most famous negative film award, should try to take this ‘honour’ with humor. Many succeed, and sometimes the stars even show up to the Razzie Awards ceremony and collect their raspberries – like Sandra Bullock (for There’s That About Steve) and Halle Berry (for “Catwoman”), who are known to have once an Oscar in the cupboard, but also the golden smack fruit.
But it takes a bit of life experience and dexterity in the movie world to handle this dubious honor so easily. And Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who has just been nominated for a Golden Raspberry, doesn’t necessarily have to have that yet. That’s why there’s a real one on Twitter now Shit broke out against those responsible for the Razzie Awards because just 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong was accused of starring in the Stephen King horror.Fire starterwas nominated for Worst Actress.
Lots of effort on Twitter: “The world must be really broken”
When the nominations for the 2023 Razzies were announced on January 23, the young actress joined the nominees in that category, along with Diane Keaton, Bryce Dallas Howard, Kaya Scodelario and Alicia Silverstone.
The fact that a child is burdened with such disgrace that could lead to bullying is now being heavily criticized on the internet – among other things, the trade magazine also posted commented on Twitter: “If you thought the Razzies were a little less vicious this year, remember that a 12-year-old girl is among the Worst Actress nominees.”
If you thought the Razzies would decide to be less mean this year, think again, because among this year’s Worst Actress nominees is a 12-year-old girl. https://t.co/57StfEO423

Many Twitter users are outraged. Aharon Keshales writes that if a 12-year-old is nominated for a Razzie Award, the world must be really shattered, that would put enormous pressure on the child. According to Joe Russo raids dropped to a new low.
Comedian Sarah O’Connell writes that it’s definitely not okay to nominate a 12-year-old — she has friends herself who were former child actors, and she knows the struggles they’ve struggled with. And Les Williams writes succinctly: it’s just disgusting to nominate a kid for this award.
A 12-year-old actress is nominated for a Razzie award? What’s actually going on? This world is broken. It is real. Cancel this nomination. Please don’t put such pressure on a child.

The Razzies have sunk to a new low by nominating an eleven-year-old girl – whose performance I actually dug.
If you continue to denigrate people’s hard work – which you shouldn’t – at least target adults.

With friends who used to be child actors and knowing the struggles they went through, it’s NOT okay for the Razzies to nominate a 12-year-old actress (who was amazing in the movie, by the way). #invade https://t.co/5PdyY8UjTa

Picking a kid for the Razzies is pretty disgusting.
— Les Williams (@leswilliams2) January 24, 2023
Eleven-year-old actor Julian Hilliard (“WandaVision”) writes in a well-received tweet that the raids are already mean and low-key, but nominating a child is just disgusting and wrong. “Why would a child be at risk of more bullying or worse? Be better,” Hilliard concludes.
The roundups are vicious and classless already, but nominating a child is just disgusting and wrong. Why would a child be at risk of more bullying or worse? Better.

Ryan Kiera Armstrong is not the first kid to be nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award. Probably the most prominent example Jack Lloyd become known for his role as young Anakin Skywalker in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menacewas nominated twice – once solo and once as Worst Screen Duo alongside Natalie Portman.
The example of Jake Lloyd is also cited in many tweets. Since the child star had to put up with a lot of vilification after his “Star Wars” role, and the fact that he was nominated for a negative award, should have given many haters of the prequel series more fuel. Mark Hamilton leads at job interviews over and over how angry he was that the “fans” had treated the then about ten-year-old so badly.
“I can’t believe the raids would nominate a kid for a raid”
They did it to Jake Lloyd for 2 decades for his part in the Phantom Menace, likely contributing to his mental health issues from the ridicule he received from Star Wars fans and other kids.

Jake Lloyd is actually a perfect example of why The Razzies should fire kids.

This kid has a good point!
Take Jake Lloyd for goodness sake!
Razzies, I’ll do you one better: I’m nominating the new Velma for worst series of the year!
What do you think about it?! https://t.co/CdN2pvv8XF

The Razzie Awards are traditionally presented on the eve of the Oscars. This year’s Academy Awards will be presented on March 13 – and here too the nominees have now been announced. The most nominations, eleven in total, were for the insane multiverse comedy “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, closely followed by the German Netflix war drama “Nothing New in the West” with nine nominations. Here you will find an overview of all nominations:
